Maison

The house is a traditional friendly farmhouse with a garden. It has just been renovated to a very high standard. It is welcoming, with many original features, wooden floors and old furniture, but also all the necessary modern amenities. There are 2 double bedrooms, a lovely kitchen with firewood cooker/oven and an electric oven and a gas cooker. The dining table can sit 6 people. The living room is next to the kitchen and it is possible to extend the settee into a double bed.

There is garden furniture for those wishing to dine al fresco. The views from the house are lovely with a real sense of peace and tranquillity (there is almost no traffic except for the occasional tractor). There are several nice lanes to walk. We have plenty of children books and toys. Lastly, there is very little light pollution and we get fantastic night skies.

Quartier

The house is located in the Vipava valley, Slovenia, on the edge of a typical karstic village with houses made of stone. It is 30 km to Nova Gorica, 70 km to Ljubljana and 150 km to Venice (Italy). Easy daily excursions can be made to the upper Soca valley, classified as one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe, Julian Alps, Kras, and the coast. Kayaking, rafting, canyoning, paragliding, caving and mountain biking are all possible. Famous Predjama castle and Postojna cave can be reached by bike in about two hours. If you prefer to walk, you can head to the vineyards that start immediately beyond the house, and explore the surrounding countryside.

À propos de nous

We are a big family: Tatjana, Marko (grandparents and the owners of the house), Anja and Ziga, and Gaja and Neza. Tatjana is a famous Slovenian writer and a teacher. Marko, her husband, runs his own firm. I, Anja, am a teacher and translator of children books. Ziga is a geographer and our leader on the journeys. We have two little girls: Gaja (4 years) and Neza (2 years). We live near our capital and we use our lovely stone house (we call it the Rosemary cottage) as our second home. We spend weekends and most holidays here because it is a great place to chill and relax, good for walking, observing nature and spending time with friends. The neighbour has the best wine in the village. We love it here and hope that anyone who comes will feel the same. Most importantly we want people to feel relaxed and at home.
