Glasgow's West End is home to The University of Glasgow, two of the city's largest parks, the recently refurbished Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and a huge array of shops, cafes and restaurants. The flat is a 5 minute walk from the Botanic Gardens, which plays host to many events and exhibitions throughout the summer including outdoor performances of Shakespeare plays and Byres Rd, the main shopping area of the west end.

Bus links to the city centre are located 50 metres from the front door (20 minute bus journey), and there is also an underground station on Byres Rd (10 minutes to city centre).

Perfect for exploring the city, this is also an ideal base for exploring Scotland's beautiful lochs and mountains, with Loch Lomond (commonly known as 'the gateway to the Highlands') only a 30 minute drive away from the West End. Glasgow also has excellent transport links to other Scottish cities (trains to Edinburgh depart hourly and take only 45 minutes) and is, therefore, an excellent base for visiting the Edinburgh festival without having to pay the inflated room rates charged in Edinburgh throughout the summer! Stirling (home of the Wallace Monument), historic Perth and Dundee are all easy day-trips from Glasgow.

I am a restaurant manager in my early 30s, currently on Maternity leave after the birth of my first baby.

I'm looking for an exchange in Vancouver this summer 2008, ideally for about 4 weeks, to visit my brother and sister-in-law who live there. I'll be travelling with my parents (dad's a retired social worker, mum a soon-to-be retired schoolteacher) and my brand new baby (born February!) My boyfriend is hoping to join us for part of the holiday, but works away from home on the oil rigs and won't be sure of his work commitments until nearer the time.

We'll be spending a couple of weeks of our holiday at my sister-in-law's family cabin in the Rockies, but would love to take advantage of my maternity leave to stay for longer if we can organise an exchange. Parent's house 30 minutes north of Belfast in Northern Ireland will also be available for swap if anyone would like to explore both countries in one trip.

Can do non-simultaneous exchange for my flat, I can stay with other family in Glasgow.
