Maison

We live in a two bedroom flat in the Jordaan neighborhood of Amsterdam on the Brouwersgracht, recently voted the most beautiful canal in Amsterdam by a major Dutch newspaper. The flat is approx 100 m2 with a large living room with doors opening onto the canal and an open kitchen with dishwasher. The master bedroom has a queen bed and sleeps two. The other bedroom is our son's room and has an elevated twin bed with a slide. We also have a futon matress which can be opened up to sleep two more. The second bedroom has a small balcony overlooking the enclosed garden, large enough for a small table where you can enjoy dinner on sunny summer evenings. Our flat is on the third floor of a building with a lift. We have one 6 year old son so we are kid friendly and have plenty of toys (LEGO paradise) and books. We are avid readers and have plenty of books but also have a TV, stereo, DVD player and wireless internet. We have a nice sized bathroom with a shower and tub and a washer and dryer. We don't have a car, but we do have bicycles which you are welcome to use while you're here.

Quartier

We are tucked into a quiet corner of the city that has the atmosphere of a village, but all the conveniences of the city. Our apartment is conveniently located to the many museums and theaters of Amsterdam, most withing walking distance, all within cycling or tram distance. We are surrounded by fantastic restaurants and cafes where you can spend the long summer evenings sitting by a canal enjoying the atmosphere. We have a wonderful organic farmers market every Saturday which attracts visitors from all over the city. Just across the canal is the Westerpark where you can spend a sunny day lounging in the grass or visiting the children's zoo. A plethora of small shops in the neighborhood for anything from bread to wine to chocolate and everything in between. Our building is very international with neighbors from all over Europe who are always happy to help each other out. By train you can take day trips to the beach in Zandvoort, the Hague, or Delft all is less than an hour. Summer is a great time to enjoy Amsterdam with the beautiful weather and long days.

À propos de nous

We are an American married couple who have lived in Amsterdam for 7 years. Dan works for a publishing company and Maria is a stay at home mom. We have a 6 year old son, Andrew. We are pretty relaxed and down to earth family and would enjoy getting out of the city to somewhere green and relaxed where Andrew can run around outside and we can enjoy nature. (I'd love to take care of your garden for a few weeks!) We are hoping to take a long vacation over Andrew's summer holiday this year and are thinking about perhaps an Asian adventure, but are open to offers from all over. We're happy to provide you with tips on where to go and what to do.

Destination

We are very flexible at the moment as to where we go. Would ideally like to get into the countryside a bit...
