Montmartre is a picturesque and authentic village made famous by so many artists, including Van Gogh, Picasso and Toulouse Lautrec. The area offers a wonderful choice of excellent restaurants. There is also a large and varied selection of food shops and open markets nearby.
The nearest metro stations are Abbesses or Lamarck Caulaincourt which is are both five-minute walk away. The metro line 12 runs through here and it is a very convenient line for getting anywhere in Paris. It's a straight run to Concorde or over to the Left Bank.
