Maison

This is a 200+ year old country house with two bedrooms, kitchen, large lounge and dining room, bathroom/ showerroom and separate toilet. It has UK satellite TV with Sky package, DVD player, Hi Fi and PC/Internet.
Separate from the main house and attached to the old barn is a guest appartment with a large room downstairs and a mezzanine floor with beautiful views, shower room and WC. This is where our visitors usually chose to stay.
The house is set in 5600 m² of lawn, fruit trees, pond, and well stocked vegetable garden. House swap includes feeding 5 poultry and locking away each night for which you get eggs. Also Kensey, an English Cocker spaniel and Cleo our cat will be here to greet you and demand attention. Kensey loves to run and he needs to have exercise every day. An opportunity to explore the great walking cycle routes all around us.
The car is a 97 Peugeot 306 estate and drives well. Bikes are road type but we use them on the footpaths for walking the dog.
There is oil fired central heating and with logs for open fire if you wish to supplement. Great barbcues possible. The pond has goldfish,frogs and sometimes moorhens but note that it is not fenced so maybe not suitable for v young children. You will be welcome to eat whatever veg is growing at the time in our veg plot and, depending on the season, we have cherries, plums, apricot, pears, apples, quince, walnuts from the trees.


Quartier

We like this area because of its peaceful country location and the feeling of closeness to nature. To sit beside the pond, reading or just watching the fish can be relaxing or you can get horses locally to ride. We enjoy walking with the dog. We enjoy the lake swimming nearby in Summer and children visitors are equally happy with the good facilities and safety. There is a lot of history around and visits to local chateaux or to the towns of Auch and Toulouse provide for modernity alongside the historic. Numerous charming villages surround us with plenty of fruit and veg markets, flea markets, antique markets and flower markets all summer. We are very close to the Armagnac region and you can visit vineyards and go wine-tasting. In July the sunflowers are in bloom and the countryside is very pictoresque.
The weather here is good with lots of sunshine, calm and dry throughout the Summer.
The 1 1/2 acre garden is very private and great for barbecues and picnics so you don’t have to go anywhere if you want to just relax.
Auch or Lectoure are 30 mins. Toulouse or Montauban 1 hour. Agen 1 1/2 hours. The Pyrennees are about 2 1/2 hours away, as is Spain or the Atlantic or Mediterranean coast.

À propos de nous

We are two – Doreen is 50ish and an ex social worker while Bob is just retiring from international red cross work. We are originally Irish but have lived in many countries and had our last home in Greece before moving to France. Doreen speaks some French while Bob is linguistically challenged. We play lots of tennis when not walking, reading, sunbathing & listening to music (Doreen), gardening, swimming, shopping and watching sport (Bob).

Destination

Would be happy to stay in any type of location and to look after any animals or valued property. Only need access to one bedroom and with or without a vehicle. Would prefer English or French speaking. Very flexible and would even be open also to gardening or other physical tasks around the home.
Dates are flexible.
