Maison

We have a five-bedroom house, in an ideally placed town in the Finistère department (Brittany). It's a 15 mn drive to the coast (beautiful quiet white sand beaches) one way & a 15 mn drive to the centre of Brest.
There is a double bedroom downstairs, and four single bedrooms upstairs.
There's one toilet with washbasin upstairs. There's one toilet plus one separate bathroom (with shower over the bath) downstairs, and one shower in the basement. We have a linen room with a washing machine in the basement where you can hang out your washing on rainy days. You can hang it out in the garden on fine days.
Our garden behind the house is around 300 m² (with table and barbecue). Then, you only need to cross a path to come to another 7000 m² garden which is ours. There are trees and lots of places to play hide and seek. There's a table there (and also a low table for children).
We have novels in English, a VCR and a DVD player.
You may use the phone as you like, as long as you only call land lines (you may not call mobile phones) in France, UK, Ireland, Spain. Call us in your house if you have a problem!
We are a family of six (4 children aged between 4 & 9), and we'd like to swap houses in December 2008 & summer 2009. We'd like to find a house (with neighbours) in the South of England in December; in Ireland or the UK (preferably the Highlands of Scotland, but open...) in the summer, in an area with children. It would be near a town centre, with supermarket, baker's, chemist's, etc... but at the same time with a lovely view of the countryside.
We need a house with no pets: if you have a cat, even if you have farmed it out, sorry, we cannot stay in your house (allergy).

Quartier

We live in a neighbourhood with children. It's a 5-mn walk to the centre of the town: with a small supermarket, a chemist's, a baker's, a butcher's... (more shops & nice shopping centre by the lake if you go to Saint-Renan, a bigger town only 3 miles away. (Lovely open-air market every Saturday in Saint-Renan.)
It's a 15 mn drive to the coast (beautiful quiet white sand beaches) one way & a 15 mn drive to the centre of Brest (we're 8 or 9 miles north of Brest). We're 35-40 miles from the lovely Monts d'Arrée http://www.lesmontsdarree.com/.
You can also visit Oceanopolis, the ocean discovery park, in Brest http://www.oceanopolis.com/.
And we live 2 miles from a great amusement park, La Récré des trois curés http://www.larecredes3cures.fr/present.html
You can also enjoy a lovely park (free entrance, 15 mn drive from our place), Le jardin du Moulin Neuf, in the Ploudalmézeau village, on the coast: it has several playparks for different ages (with slides, etc...) and a small zoo with various farm and exotic animals.

À propos de nous

We are a translator and a researcher. We love walking.
We have 4 children. They are between 9 and 4: one daughter (the eldest) and three sons. They're looking forward to making new friends and speaking English!

Destination

We are a family of six and we'd like to swap houses for 1 week in December 2008, and 3-4 weeks in summer 2009. We'd like to find a house in the countryside (but with neighbours) in Ireland or the UK, in an area with children. It would be near a town centre, with supermarket, baker's, chemist's, etc... but at the same time with a lovely view of the countryside. Preferably the South of England in December 2008, & Ireland or the Scottish Highlands in summer 2009.
