Maison

My home is a 2 bedroom condo (plus den) in the center of Winnipeg. It is an upscale building with 24 hour security, door service and vallet parking. The building is 50 years old and located on the Assiniboine River. My condo features stunning river views with amazing sunsets. I did a complete renovation in 2007, so everything is updated. There are two full bathrooms, one is an ensuite. I am located on the 5th floor. The condo will sleep 6, but 4 would be more comfortable. There is a queen bed in the master and twin beds in the guest room. There is also a hide-a-bed in the livingroom that is a double. This unit has a huge (60ft. long) balcony that overlooks the river. It is perfect for grilling, dinning or just watching the sunset. There are four television sets (with cable) a music system and a computer for use by home exchange guests.

Quartier

The neighbourhood is known as "Osborne Village" and is in the centre of the city. Walking to a large variety of attractions is easy. There are many restaurants, shops and grocery stores near by. There is a beautiful river walk that is right at the foot of the building and a river taxi runs every 20 minutes in the summer months. There is also public transportation near by. Winnipeg is a beautiful city of contrasts. The summer moths are warm to hot. Temperatures can reach into the 90's F (38C) but usually stay in the low 80's. Evenings are somewhat cooler. Winters can be bitterly cold. Because Winnipeg is located in the centre of Canada it has very easy acess to other Canadian centres as well as the US. We are a driving time of 21/2 hours to nearest US city, Grand Forks ND.
There are a great many attractions for visitors, both those with children and those without.

I am a single retired high scool teacher I have two adult children, and two beautiufl grandchildren. I still teach on a part time basis-tutor actually. Raising my children and working full time did not provide me with many opportunities to travel in the past. I hope to change that in the future and am therefore looking forward to making good use of this home exchange program.

Destination

I am most interested in doing an exchange somewhere in Ireland during July, August or September of 2008. I am also open to other locations and would seriously consider any offer.

I am single and would most likely be traveling on my own, but there is a possibility that an adult friend might join me for a part of the stay.

This would need to be a simultaneous excahnge on my part, as this is my only home. Children would be welcome and there are many local activites for them. My condo does not allow pets of any description (unfortunately!!)
