Maison

A comfy, custom designed modern partially-log home . Views from all windows look out over the lake or into the forest. Our house is over 2000 sq ft with kitchen/dining room, living room, sunroom with Jacuzzi hot tub, large M.bedroom (queen bed) with ensuite, and main bathroom all on the main floor. Loft above kitchen is den/office with TV and computer and sitting area. Loft at other end above bedroom is a guest room with queen bed and single hideaway bed.
Our home is very relaxing and informal but is not suitable for children.
We have a houseful of books of all types.
There is a wood stove and gas fireplace for winter pleasure (as well as electric heat and propane furnace).
There is a very large wooden deck around all 4 sides of the house.

The garage/workshop is separate from the house. We have a campfire and dock, canoes.

Quartier

If you want to feel totally relaxed and glad to be alive- come here! We live surrounded by forest at the edge of a valley just metres from the lake's edge. You will feel secluded in the wilderness. But in 15 minutes you can drive to town with all services and everything you could want. All the things that all towns have.
There are 2 other full time residents across the lake and we canoe back and forth or ice skate and ski in winter.
There are old logging road trails through the woods to explore right on the property and you may see deer and moose, beavers, loons etc here.
There are numerous nearby historical and geographical sites, a world famous health spa, fine dining, and this is famous fishing country.
Local industries are forestry, ranching, and tourism. 100 Mile House was founded during Gold Rush days and its history is still very much alive.
There is horseback riding at the neighbour's and an equestrian centre down the road.
Larger cities are an hour or 2 away.
Ski hill 1 hour, 2 golf courses, 15 minutes; 2 Cross county ski courses ,20 minutes or right out the back door. Swimming right here or in town in the winter. Dog sledding, sleigh rides, all nearby. Banff, Jasper, Whistler each 1 day drive from here. Too much to list.

À propos de nous

We are retired seniors, Ed was a business man and Dianne was a teacher and is an artist. Our children are grown with families of their own. Ed likes woodworking, and we both love skiing, golf, canoeing, camping, and just walking through the woods. Also reading and music.We are animal lovers, outdoors people and country folk.
We are happy to care for your pets, mow the lawn, etc and will treat your place as our own to care for it. We are non smokers and will only accept non smokers.
Dianne worked for an international student exchange program for many years and we have travelled a lot. We had a home exchange to Germany a few years ago, Tasmania last year and northern Australia this year and think it's the only way to go!
WE try to live as naturally as possible, with Mother Nature. We have one small dog and 2 cats to be cared for but a homesitter can be arranged if you want to be away for a few days.

Destination

We specifically want to go to the North Island, preferably the Coromandel or Bay of Plenty regions but will consider others. We need a straight swap as we have a small Westie dog and 2 cats who would need to be fed and loved. If you wished to go away for a few days a house sitter can be arranged .

We are very flexible about dates and length of time and are happy to suggest a gorgeous Fall weather exchange .Alloutdoor photos were taken in Sept and Oct.
We have a vehicle for your use. We prefer a rural exchange.
