Maison

Our house is an old Cornish granite detached house with half an acre of garden, a small pond, apples and fruit trees, a den, a tyre swing and a huge trampoline. Inside it's a family home with a cosy living room with wood burner, and a large conservatory/living room with a big table to live round. The kitchen is easy to use, with slate tiles on the floor and wooden work surfaces. Lots of books and space; there's a bathroom with toilet downstairs and a shower room with toilet upstairs. There's a small double bedroom and two small single bedrooms (one with bunk beds) upstairs, and two sofa beds downstairs, so plenty of room for friends to stay. People say our house has a "lovely feel"...we think so, too.

Quartier

Our house is in a small hamlet about a mile out of Redruth, our nearest town, which has grocers, fishmonger, butcher, bakers and most basic shops, plus the usual supermarkets, large and small. We're 10-15 minute drive from some of the most fantastic Cornish beaches on the Atlantic coast, with paddling, swimming, surfing and body-boarding. We're centrally placed as within half an hour's drive you're spoilt for choice when it comes to beaches, small fishing villages, and lively towns on both the north (surfing and crashing waves!) and south (boating, fishing, yachting) coasts. Lots of art, good food, extreme sports, clean beaches, great beach bars for watching sun-sets on long summer evenings, cliffs, walking, horse-riding - or just paddling and lying on the beach...

À propos de nous

We're a family of four, working for a local environmental organisation, and running a copywriting business from home. Our children are 8 and 11, and love the outdoor life that life in Cornwall allows. We have bikes, bodyboards and wetsuits to borrow, and are minutes from the National Cycle network and miles of footpaths and bridleways.

Destination

We're pretty flexible as are just beginning to plan for this trip; but we would ideally like to spend August 2008 in Amsterdam in a family-friendly decent sized flat or houseboat and offer our house in Cornwall near the beach in exchange.But do try us with suggestions!
