Wonderful detached secluded 4 bedroom detached house in peaceful Debden an old sleepy English village. Two old english pubs in the village and 3 miles from the old market town of saffron walden and 17 miles from Cambridge. Wonderful location with great restaurants just a short drive away and a bus stop just up the road. A very comfortable modern house with all mod cons and a totally secluded south facing back garden

We live in a wonderful sleepy village with its own community shop and local friendly pub. Then just 3 miles up the road is the ancient market town of Saffron Walden has an old market square, common, and little lanes with antique and curiosity shops. There are cafes, restaurants and the department store of Eaden Lilley. The castle museum and remains of the old castle are near the market square. The stately home of Audley End House and gardens, close to Saffron Walden, are worth a visit.
Other all age attractions within the vicinity are Duxford Imperial War Museum, Kentwell Hall and Go Ape and cycling at Thetford Forest. Audley End House with magnificent gardens and spectacular summer concerts .
1 hour rail link to London from station 2 miles away. Beautiful university town of Cambridge, only 18 miles away, is easily reached by car or train. Cambridge offers botanical garden, Fitzwilliam Museum, punting on the Cam. It is a lively and vibrant city suitable for all ages. Within 1-2 hour driving distance are the coasts and waterways of Norfolk and Suffolk and the picturesque medieval villages of Lavenham and Long Melford.

Cambridge has the UK's oldest University, with some colleges dating from the 12th century. Also worth visiting in Cambridge are the Botanical gardens, museums, theatres, cinemas and clubs. In the summer musical and theatrical festivals take place and punting on the river is a popular pastime. Cambridge has many quality stores and a daily market. There is a shopping mall at the 'Grafton Centre' and exclusive shops in Trinity Street, where some of the oldest colleges are situated. Nearby, stately homes and gardens of Anglesey Abbey and Wimpole Hall are open to the public.

Stansted - 15 mins away with a bus service that runs straight outside the house ( not on sundays )

We are a professional middle aged couple Maggie and Chris adventuring into house swapping for the first time . We have travelled round the world and we are always looking for a home from home with plenty of space with the comforts of home . We moved into the village in April 2007 and I still feel like we are on holidays as we previously lived in London for over 25 years. I am a nurse by background and now work in Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge as an operational manager. Chris is a civil servant and works for the home office in London.
We take great pride in our home and have fitted 2 new bathrooms and we are now renovating the kitchen and to note it is always lovely and warm. Our back garden backs on to fields as far as the eye can see and is totally secluded. It is south facing with a nice arrangement of flowers and plants and we have great barbeques in the summer months.
My son lives in Cambridge and will be at hand if you have any concerns and need any advise. We also have cleaners who come on monday and thursdays and can cancel them if you wish.
