This home is situated in a quiet, rural area, overlooking the LaHave River on Highway 331 in Nova Scotia. The property is private, with gardens and acres of land for walking. There is water access for kayaking or boating and near the LaHave River Yacht Club.
The two story home has an above ground pool, and property bordered by a running brook. Enjoy dining outside on the deck.The home is fully equipped with all amenities...washer, dryer, high speed internet, large screen HDTV. This is a two storey, 2500 sq ft home that includes a den, craft room and family room and livingroom.
The home is located 12 minutes from the town of Bridgewater on the LaHave River, Nova Scotia. There is a short Ferry ride to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Lunenburg. The home is minutes away from numerous beaches.
Nova Scotia's major city, Halifax, is one hour away.
The South Shore of Nova Scotia is famous for its numerous festivals...Wooden Boat, Folk Harbour, Scarecrow, etc.
Nova Scotia is a perfect spot for a short or long break and is a mere six hour flight to England.

Quartier

As mentioned in the description of the home, this area is close to much of what Nova Scotia has to offer....fine beaches, historic towns, and a peaceful setting.
There is close access to the large urban centre of Halifax.
The summers can be spent on the beaches which are just minutes away. Many summer activities and festivals can be found in the local towns of Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. Fall colors are spectacular and hikes and walking trails are available near-by. Winter sports include snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and winter beach walks. Nearby provincial and national parks provide numerous outdoor activity opportunities.
Lunenburg County is home to many craftspeople and artisans and their shops dot the local towns. Numerous wonderful restaurants are in the area. Fresh breads and yummy sweets are available from the LaHave bakery....minutes from the house.
This is a quiet community with single dwelling homes dotting the river. Summer brings a festival of sails on the water and in the winter the frozen river is home to ice fishermen and skaters. These can be accessed from the front door of the house.

À propos de nous

We are two, recently retired school administrators, who enjoy outdoor activity, such as hiking, swimming and golf. We take pride in our property and respect the property of others.
We enjoy travel and meeting new people and seeing new places.
Home exchange is a new venture for us as in the past we have rented homes during our travels. Our work has meant that our travels were short term, but now with the freedom that retirement brings we are looking forward to longer stays.
We enjoy being able to travel in the area that we visit and are not fans of the "all inclusive" packages. Being able to experience some of the local culture is what we believe travel is all about.

Destination

We are open to a non-simultaneous exchange.
We are interested in spending January and February, 2009 in Hawaii, preferably Kauai or Mauai.
