Comfortable family mudbrick home on half acre (2300 square metres) bush covered section. 2 bedrooms plus study, 2 bathrooms, 2 living areas. Very private and only 3 minutes drive from one of island's best beaches (Palm Beach). House is full of contemporary NZ paintings. Section sloping but drive on with level access into house. Owners retired couple with two children overseas so wanting to travel. As we live on an island with a small permanent population we rely on roof rain water and a septic tank. Island one of Auckland's gems and very popular holiday place. Look up Waiheke Island on Internet.

Neighborhood

Neighbourhood very quiet yet very close to Island amenities. Great Art Gallery, small but good shopping, supermarket and on public transport route. Plenty of young families and lots to do especially if you like stunning beaches and walking on the innumerable walkways and reserves. Auckland City (NZ's) largest is a 35 minute boat ride away. Island is about 90 square kilometres but with most of the population concentrated at the eastern end an easy walk to anywhere. Busy and warm November through April although most people prefer to swim December through March. Lots of boutique vineyards, olive oil producers, great restaurants and local artists.

About Us

We are a retired couple I was a librarian and strategic planner in local government by profession, my wife formerly a nurse, retrained as a teacher and was a specialist reading recovery teacher in New Zealand primary schools. We are interested in NZ art and have an extensive collection on our walls and work as volunteers in our excellent community art gallery. We enjoy golf (the island has a nine hole golf course) wine and food. We want to go travelling before we get too old and with sons in Sweden and Australia have a strong incentive to move around.

Destination

We are very open to negotiation over times and length of stay although travel from NZ dictates a minimum period of ten days. Very flexible as to region and time of year. Tempt us.
