Description

My home with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms is an extended and refurbished old miners cottage close to Coromandel Township. The spacious garden is a mature orchard and organic vegetable garden with hammocks and swing seat. The house is cozy being all on one level with original wood floors and a log stove it has most modern conveniences. A modern and light independant garden room overlooks the orchard and is private and seperate from the main house making the place ideal for two couples or a family. The house is within walking distance of the iconic Driving Creek Railway and cafe, the old Stamper Battery with the largest working water wheel in new Zealand. Coromandel peninsula boasts many attractions, especially its magnificent coastline, great beaches and superb fishing and is about two and a half hours drive from Auckland airport. There is an estate car and a bike available for your use.

Neighborhood

The neighbourhood is quiet with views of the Coromandel bush covered hills from the garden. The township of Coromandel is about 2kms, where there are 3 pubs and many cafes and restaurants serving local delicacies like oysters, mussels and local caught and smoked fish. The area is known for it's art and crafts people many of whom have open studios and who sell their work at an artists co-operative in the town. Coromandel is a very friendly small town which celebrates it's gold mining and settler history as well as Maori culture.

About Us

I am one person looking to exchange and I'm early retired but work from home as a textile artist.
My adult children live in England and so every year I spend a few months visiting them and enjoying English life, visiting London galleries and museums, boating, cycling and enjoying the church architecture!
I like to have a home exchange so that I do not spend all my time with relatives but can be independant. I am happy to look after a pet.

Destination

I am flexible about when and how long but I would like it to be between June and October 08.
The east of England city or country would be ideal but I'm open to offers from anywhere in England. I'm an experienced canal boater and would be very happy to exchange to a boat anywhere on the english or french canals.
