Description

200 metres from the beach in a residential area of Barcelona. 10 min walk to metro and 10min ride to the city centre. A 3rd floor flat (no lift) in a very quiet building, 5 floors only 1 resident per floor. The building dates from the early 1900's and has fairly recently been renovated externally. Nice Catalan restaurant on the ground floor( no noise problems). The flat is 98 square metres divided into into 2 areas. Turn left at the front door and there is a store cupboard leading onto 2 bedrooms, one of which is used as a study/ work area. These 2 rooms face onto the street Plenty of light throughout the day although at its best late afternoon. Turning right at the front door there is a small bathroom wth shower. This leads you to the living room with open access to the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped. In the living room ther are two sofas, TV, DVD and music system. I doon't like air com but there are ceiling fans in three of the rooms. Of the living room there is a bedroom. In each oof thee bedrooms there are double beds. At the back of the flat there is as very bright gallery with a dining area. There is also the larger bathroom with shower ( no bath), recentyly renovated as well as a room for washing machine and cleaning materials. As I travel a fair bit the flat is furnished in a fairly eclectic way, hardly any Ikea. If I was to describe it I'd say it's comfortable and user friendly. The only drawback is that it wouldn't be suitable for the elderly or disabled. Finally there is a communal roof terrace with tables and chairs, music system and a fridge, a great place for a drink in the summer with views of all the great sights of Barcelona.

Neighborhood

Quiet, family orientated with a 2 kilometre pedestrian walkway running from a huge commercial centre to the beach. Lots of pavement cafes and good reasonably priced restaurants. It has a very neighbourhood feel to it while only being a 10min metro ride to the city centre. Good public transport connecting to all parts of the city. Ring road nearby for connections to motorway and airport.It's quite sporty with whole families out cycling or rollerblading at the weekend. It is a 10/15 min walk along the beach to the Olympic port where ther is a vast annd varied nightlife, bars, discos, casino, restaurants....there is a bike hire shop nearby as well as a sailing club where you can hire windsurfs and small sail boats. Most restaurants will offer some kind of menu in rather dodgy English and as it's an international city there is always someone around who will lend a helping hand. The Catalans are a friendly lot especially if you have children.

About Us

I'm originally Scottish although I've been living in Barcelona for 25 years. I teach in the University of Barcelona as well as being an online tutor for the Open University of Catalonia. I normally travel for about 3 months of the year, mainly to Hong Kong and China as I train examiners for English language exams. I speak English, Catalan and Spanish. My main interests are travelling, cooking and football.

Destination

I will be leaving Barcelona at the end of June 2008 and will be returning mid September. The person could have the flat for the agreed amount of time during that period.
