cottage on the shores of Lake Superior!

North America / United States / Michigan / Munising

Close To   Marquette (45 Miles)

Description

Our home is a lovely little cottage right on the shore of the amazing Lake superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula! We are a family of 3, Me and my two children; 10 & 11. We have 2 cats and a dog, but the dog could go to my mother's. She lives nearby and could help take care of the cats if you wanted to travel. There is a fireplace in the living room and a fire pit on the small deck out back. When you are on the deck you would swear you were in the middle of the forest, yet we are only a few minutes from town, a mile from the most gorgeous sandy beach, and only 45 minutes from an airport and larger college city, Marquette, MI. The neighborhood is lovely - some kids, mostly middle school age. Munising is the name of the small town we live in. It's a very artsy community with access to many opportunities to view the natural wonders of the U.P. The Pictured Rocks (painted rocks) are a real tourist attraction and there are many ways to view them - boat tours, hiking...
I teach Head Start in Munising, a preschool program based on income and needs. I have two children, Maggie 11 and Kenny who will be 10 in January. They recently lost their father, and although we certainly are not rich, I am hoping to be able to have enough money to travel with them either next year, or 2009. I did my student teaching in Walsall, England in 2004 and was able to spend quite a bit of time in Ireland, I would love to be able to share that experience with my children! Like I said, money is certainly an issue for us, but I think the home exchange may be our answer!!!

Neighborhood

Ours is a quiet neighborhood with mostly older people, but directly across the street we have two homes with children - mostly middle school age. You can see Lake Superior from the kitchen window.

Destination

I really have no particular region in mind since all of Ireland is so beautiful and fairly accessibly. I can be flexible on dates, you are welcome to stay here if dates overlap either coming or going. My mother lives in Munising, so we can always stay there. I just want my children to live full and incredible lives, and I think travel is such a full and incredible thing! I wouldn't mind caring for pets if you have them, but I do want some flexibility time-wise as far as taking them to England/ Scotland... There is so much to do and see and live!!!
