Description

Magorgor Safari Lodge is a comfortable and neat self catering rest camp situated on one of my farms near Musina (18km) in the Limpopo Province, South Africa. The airconditioned rooms have 2 single beds with a bathroom (shower, toilet and washbasin) each. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a large thatched roof with satelite tv, swimming pool and barbeque facilities. There is a butler keeping everything clean and tidy.

The flat is in Margate, Kwa-Zulu Natal. It is basically on the beach with no other buildings in front. It's got a spectacular 180 deg ocean view with the constant sound of the ocean. It has 2 bedrooms with a double bed in each and 2 bathrooms. Lounge and kitchen. Sleeper couch in the lounge. There is a nice patio overlooking the beach and sea. Swimming pool and laundromat in the secure complex.

Neighborhood

The camp is central to this region. Various places of interest can be visited in day trips for instance Mapungubwe, Kruger National Park, Zimbabwe, Soutpansberg Mountains, Limpopo river (border between South Africa and Zimbabwe) etc.

The Mapungubwe National Park, the country's youngest and most northerly national park declared around Mapungubwe Hill, conserves the fauna and flora of the Limpopo and Shashe Rivers' catchment areas, as well as fascinating archaeological and San rock art sites. Various walks in the reserve incorporate the Schroda and K2 sites that were the main trading sites before Mapungubwe was established. Researchers believe the area was the first capital of the ancient kingdom of Great Zimbabwe. Day visitors are welcome and guided tours are available.

On one of my other farms 8 km from the camp some of the oldest rock formations on earth can be found on the river-bed of the Sand River, approximately 10 km south-east of Musina. These exposed formations are referred to as the Sand River Gneiss and have been dated at 3,850 million years. Lots of the big baobab trees (Upside-down-trees) is also common in this area.

Musina with some restaurants, shops and a beautifull and interesting golfcourse is 18 km away. Musina is 15 km from the Zimbabwe border.

High hills (koppies) around the camp give panoramic views of the bushveld. There is a variety of game, bird life and natural vegetation around the camp and in the area.

Hunting or guided tours in the area can be organised.

Or above all, you can just relax around the pool and under the cool thatched roof in peace.

About Us

I am a farmer and my wife is a data analyst at Venetia Diamond Mine of the De Beers Group. Our first child, Cesca, was born 30 May 2008.

We know the area and its people very well.

We are afrikaans but are both comfortable communicating in english.

Destination

Dates can be flexible and can be non-simultaneous. See Offer 2 wich is a lovely flat in Margate, Kwa-Zulu Natal. You can, for instance, stay for 7 days in the safari lodge and then tour down through the Kruger National Park and Natal and then stay in the flat in Margate for another 7 days. This way you will see the very diverse and beautiful nature of South Africa. Photos for apartment in Margate will be posted soon.

Looking for a possible swap in New Zealand in 2011 during the Rugby World Cup near some of the big rugby stadiums.
