Maison

Our cottage is very private and is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Quebec, by lake Memphremagog.

The house sits a few meters from the lake and is located in a wooded area assuring privacy and tranquility, a good distance from any roadways. The cottage is our vacation home and is modestly furnished and equipped, but has the basic comfort to make your stay enjoyable and, mostly, memorable.

It has huge windows that bring the outdoor in, a big stone fireplace to keep you warm and cozy on colder evenings, an outdoor fireplace for cooking and a barbecue for less daring cooks.

The cottage can be used year long, whether you prefer summer activities on the lake (kayaks, swimming, dock and floating dock, hobbie cat are our preferred summer activities). Springtime is perfect for bird and animal watching and hiking. In the fall you can enjoy the beautiful foliage while strolling around on our property and neighboring land or hiking trips, and enjoy the perfect views of the wilderness on a kayak trip. Winter is perfect for cross-country skiing on the lake, or snowshoe walking on the neighboring land, sliding downhill or to take ski trips to nearby mountains (Jay Peak, Orford and Owl's Head are all within 45 minutes drive).

You will need an all-wheel drive vehicle to access the cottage and in winter, you will have to use our snowmobile to take you from the main road to the cottage: the driveway is long with a grade that does not allow automobile access when covered in snow.

Quartier

The cottage is pretty isolated and the neighborhood is quiet. The immediate neighbors are out of sight and consist of summer cottages.

Food and other shopping activities are available but require a 15 to 30 minute trip (or more) depending on your needs.

The area is known for its art community and a few art galleries are open in the area.

À propos de nous

My husband and I are both Canadians. We have lived in New York (at the time we bought the cottage) and now live in Paris.

We bought the cottage a few years ago and were drawn to it because of its location. It is a nice and refreshing change from the sound and activity of the big city. We love outdoor activities and are very conscientious about the environment.

We are both professionals (lawyer and banker). We also have a lovely son.

We both speak French and English.

We also have an apartment in Paris ( http://www.1sthomeexchange.com/22627.html ) that is available for exchange.

Destination

The exchange need not be simultaneous.

The dates are flexible and we would consider any warm weather location (at the time of the exchange) with access to a beach and a pool.
