Description

Open-plan 1-bedroom with a queen-sized bed located in hip Brooklyn neighborhood (Boerum Hill). Perfect for a couple. The apartment has the following: wireless internet, printer, cable television with DVD player, iPod/MP3 hook-up, coffee maker, hair-dryer, microwave/convection oven, refrigerator, electric stovetop, oven, dishwasher, clothes-washer & dryer, central heat, and two air conditioners. Unfortunately, there is no telephone (I use my cellular phone at home). I like to cook, so there is a pretty extensive set of cooking items (pots, pans, utensils, etc.). Dining table can seat six. Walk-up, two flights of stairs.

Neighborhood

The apartment is located one block away from almost every subway line in New York (2, 3, 4, 5, A, C, G, N, R, Q, W, F, B, & D trains). 1 stop from lower Manhattan on the B, D, & Q trains, three stops on all other trains. There is nowhere in Manhattan you can't get to quickly from here. The Long Island Railroad is also one block away. It's $25 cab ride from midtown Manhattan, $15 cab ride from downtown Manhattan. Willing to leave my unlimited-ride Metrocard (good for one person).

Within ten minutes walk of the apartment are three areas with many restaurants, bars, and shops. One area is Smith Street, which New York Magazine called "the most innovative, exciting restaurant row in New York city." Another area is 5th Avenue (Brooklyn has a 5th Avenue in addition to Manhattan). 5th Avenue rivals Smith Street for its trendiness and diversity of shops, restaurants, etc. Fort Greene also has many restaurants. The types of restaurants you will find are: Thai, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Peruvian, Mexican, Spanish, French, Austrian, Indian, Caribbean, Southeast Asian, Middle Eastern, Seafood, American Barbecue, Vietnamese, Israeli, Spanish, American Cajun, and American Soul Food. Also, ice cream parlors, bakeries and wine shops. Of course, you will find great pizza, bagels and cheesecake, too!

Directly across the street is a bar that usually has live music. Also across the street is a pharmacy. Down my street begins the antique and design neighborhood with many shops. A liquor/wine shop is on the corner. Three blocks away is the Brooklyn Academy of Music district, with dance, theatre, movies, music, etc.

Across the street from the apartment is a coffee shop if you don't like making your own coffee in the morning. One and a half blocks away is a shopping center that has a Target store in it (Target is a department store that sells almost anything).
