Neighborhood

Swakopmund in an ideal base from where to explore Namibia's central, western and southern regions. It is a quaint town, hedged by desert and sea, and enhanced by lush green lawns, palm trees and carefully tended public gardens. Swakopmund is popular amongst visitors because of its old-world charm and relaxed atmosphere.

Quaint architecture from a bygone era adds to the time-out-of-place atmosphere of Swakopmund. Much of the distinct German colonial character has been preserved in many of the town’s buildings. In Swakopmund, one finds historic buildings, like the Woerman House, museums and art galleries, modern shopping & business centres and residential areas, traditional crafts markets and entertainment next to scenic sea-side promenades, secluded beaches and romantic sunsets over the Atlantic Ocean - with the Namib Desert always at the doorstep.

The sweep of coastline and desert hinterland offers many options for adventure and relaxation:

Scenic flights along the Skeleton Coast, to the Sossusvlei in the southern Namib-Naukluft-Park and to the Himba people in Kaokoland.

4x4 excursions to the Cape Cross Seal Reserve, into the dune belts and gravel plains around Swakopmund for exploring desert fauna and flora, for birding in the Walvis Bay Lagoon and in Sandwich Harbour, for sightseeing of pre-historic rock art in the rugged Spitzkoppe, Erongo and Brandberg Mountains, and for rhino trekking in the Ugab River Valley.

Within a few hour's drive from Swakopmund, game-rich wilderness areas such as the Etosha National Park and Damaraland in the north of Namibia can be reached. A drive south takes visitors into the magnificent landscapes of the Hardap and Karas Regions with their strange vegetation, like the quiver tree, huge communal weaverbird nests, and impressive desert-and-mountain sceneries.

It is alo possible to fly to Cape Town or Johannesburg, within one hour and 45 minutes, from Walvisbay Airport.

About Us

We are a young couple without children, however, children are always welcome! I am involved in the legal field and my partner is a self-employed businessman. As this is our holiday home, we do not keep any pets. At all times the house will be looked after and cleaned by our ''right hand'', Martha, who is already part and parcel of the furniture! Therefore, whilst on holiday, you do not need to attend to any of the domestic duties. Our gardener also tends to the garden twice weekly.

We love the outdoors and try to embark on new and exciting adventures when possible. Should you be interested in visting our fasinating country we are happy to hear from you.
