Description

Our house (and Crested Butte) is nestled among mountains on all sides, it's a tourist/ski town, historically a mining town. At almost 9,000 ft. the views and sunshine are unending. Crested Butte boasts amazing hiking trails and open space in the Wesk Elk Mountains of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. We have world-famous mountain biking, fly-fishing, wildflower hunting, and even a superb golf course. Our weather is sunny, mostly dry (except for the afternoon showers) and warm in the summer (avg. highs in the 80's, lows 30's at night). Our house was built in 1997 and is sunny and comfortable, 1/2 of a large duplex, no need for air conditioning! We have a private fenced in side-yard with firepit and gardens. We have a well-equipped kitchen, loft, computer area, and both a bathtub and a steam shower.

Neighborhood

You will be in Crested Butte where everything is within walking distance including the downtown area with many outstanding restaurants and shops, two large playgrounds, softball fields, rec path, the Center for the Arts where there are free outdoor concerts many Monday evenings in the summer, the free bus which transports people up to the ski area at Mt. Crested Butte where the lift runs in the summer too! The views in every direction are stunning. There's no major highway coming in and out of our town so it has remained smaller and less developed than many other mountain/ski towns in Colorado. You can fly into Gunnison which is the closest airport, 28 miles north. There are high mountain lakes and streams to play in, wildlife and wilderness abounds just out your doorstep in every direction. There are children's programs in the summer time at the local Rocky Mountain Biological Lab, Round Mountain Organic Farm, Town of Crested Butte Recreation Department, and others.

About Us

Ben, the art teacher at the local middle and high school, Laura, a nurse at the public health office, Maisy (6), and Otis (4), and a dog share this lovely 3 bedroom/ 2 1/2 bath townhome (1/2 of a house) in downtown Crested Butte and are looking to spend the summer in a spanish-speaking country. We know some basic spanish but want to learn and practice more. Our interests include hiking, skiing, biking, art, traveling, and eating/cooking good food!

Destination

Bariloche is where we want to go, but are open to any offers in spanish-speaking countries. We would like to go for the whole summer (8 weeks?) but will consider exchanges of shorter time periods of no less than 2 weeks.
