Description

We live in a clean, simple 28m2 studio on the second floor (premier etage) of an apartment building in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. Hardwood floors, high ceilings, large french windows opening onto the courtyard. The main room is furnished with a small desk, table and chairs and a traditional Japanese futon (120cmX200cm) on tatami mats. The kitchen is separate, small but pleasant. Unusually for Paris studios, we have an oven. We have a rather spacious bathroom with a bathtub--also a rarity for Paris studios. The building is well-kept with digicode access and a concierge, a wide staircase and a small, art deco elevator.

Neighborhood

Our small, quiet street is just off of rue des Martyrs, a beautiful, epicurean paradise of a street, lined with fromageries, patisseries, boucheries, chocolateries, boulangeries, cafes, brasseries and restaurants--as well as design shops, flower shops, vintage shops, bars and various other shops to browse or find what you need. A short walk uphill takes you to through the Pigalle neighborhood of Moulin Rouge fame to the Sacre Coeur. Wander through side streets and stumble across the hotel Louis Armstrong used to live in. Lots of young families as well as older people and young singles. Tres, tres Parisien. Close to Metros 7 and 12.

About Us

We are John and Amy, two writers from New York in our very early thirties. We've just moved to Paris after finishing graduate school in Iowa. I (Amy) am teaching English is a Parisien high school in the Marais neighborhood, while John is enrolled in the intensive language program for foreigners at la Sorbonne. We love Paris more and more as we get to know her, and are interested in discovering other places , too. Our French is shy, beginning French, improving daily. We speak a very little bit of Spanish, also.

Destination

We'd love to go someplace warm for a week or so of our winter holiday, someplace it isn't too expensive to travel to from Paris. It would be lovely to see water.
