Description

We live in a 4 bed roomed 2-storey house in a rural location approx. 10 minutes from the town of Ennis in Co. Clare. The house itself was just built in 2000 so everything in it is new. It has 4 bedrooms – 2 with double beds and 2 with single beds. We have 1 main bathroom and 1 ensuite off the main bedroom. There is also a downstairs w. c.
Our kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, microwave etc. We also have an oil-fired range, which we use both for cooking and heating. (Although it is very simple we will leave instructions for its use.)From the kitchen you can see our nearest neighbours the cattle and sheep in the next field!
We have a living room with TV, VCR, and DVD player. We have a big collection of books of local interest which always interest visitors. Our separate music room has a new grand piano which if you play piano you are welcome to use. The music room is also full of cds, books, DVDs etc. We also have a sunroom where you can relax while viewing the panoramic views of the countryside.
The utility room houses the washing machine a dryer etc.
We havent got around to downloading pictures of our house yet but hopefully we will before too long!

Our home is approx. 10 mins drive from town. Ennis is a great location. The town itself has a lot to offer but it is also within easy reach of the most scenic areas of Ireland- the Burren area of North Clare, Conamara, Killarney, the Aran Islands, Cliffs of Moher etc. We can provide you with more information on the sights at a later stage. Suffice to say that there would be plenty to keep you amused. Our home is within 30 mins of the Atlantic Ocean and great beaches. There are also many golf clubs, swimming pools, museums etc.
Ennis itself is particularly famous for its wealth of Irish music. There are music sessions in Ennis every night of the week. Again being involved in music ourselves we can give you more information on that at a later stage if you wish.

About Us

We are a family of 5. John is a signwriter and guitar player who works with Clare County Council and Geraldine is a musician and researcher at the Irish World Academy of Music at the University of Limerick. We have 3 children. I girl – Meadhbh aged 21 who is studying music at University College Cork, and 2 boys Cillian an artist and avid birdwatcher aged 18 and Oisin 'the rocker' aged 15. All three are very interested in music and play piano, violin, flute, tin whistle and guitar. They are also interested in exploring the countryside,the arts generally, running, birdwatching and reading.
We are non smokers and request no smoking in our home.
Although we dont speak French we can read a certain ampunt of it and the kids are are also studying it at school so they can also help.

Destination

We would like an exchange in France. We would like to exchange for 2 weeks although we can offer our home for 3 weeks but it has to include the 19th July - 26th ( Geraldine is teaching at an Irish Music Festival in Tocane St Apre for that week so we will be there.) The other 2 weeks can be positioned around these dates - we are fairly flexible. We have to be back in Ireland by the 10th August. We would like to be within a few hours drive of Tocane St Apre. There are flights from Shannon to Carcassonne, Nantes and Biarritz so anywhere near there would be handy. Ideally we would like a car exchange as well but we dont mind hiring one.
