Description

Our home is part of a terrace of lovely victorian cottages just off a large garden square.

We have 3 bedrooms sleeping 5 people (2 in bunk beds) and an office with an additional double loft bed. The loft bed is not suitable for the very young or very old.

The house has many original victorian features including a working fire place in the living room, shutters and coving. We have gardens front (small) and rear, a large kitchen with seating for up to 10 people.

The kitchen has french doors which open on to the 60ft back garden which has a built in barbeque and a table and chairs for outdoor dining.

Neighborhood

We are in an area called Haggerston between Shoreditch and Dalston in the cosmopolitan East End of London. There are excellent transport links to the rest of London. We are well served by buses and the nearest tube station, Liverpool Street, is a 10 minute bus ride away.

Our street is suburban type but our environs are most definitely urban and we love the juxtaposition of the Victorian grandeur and the urban environment.

We are a short walk from Broadway Market, which sells fabulous food, clothes and crafts on a Saturday. During the week it hosts a fantastic pub, and cafes and restaurants. Columbia Road Flower Market (it is so much more than a flowermarket) happens on a Sunday and a visit here can be combined with a trip to the very trendy Brick Lane, all an easy walk.

Heading towards Dalston is Ridley Road Market and a visit here can be like stepping into another country. You can buy any manner of strange food, (including african snails), cheap clothes and vegetables.

We are on the fringes of Shoreditch with its restaurants, bars and galleries. The West End with its Theaters, Museums and sights including Covent Garden are all easily accessible using local transport.

Our nearest tourist attractions are St Paul's Cathedral and The Tate Modern with the London Dungeons, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London all easy to get to.

We have a gorgeous public square seconds from the front door where the resident's association hosts parties in summer and at Halloween. There is a children's play park at the top of the road and London Fields, with 2 playgrounds, a pub, playing fields, lovely trees and an outdoor swimming pool just 5 minutes walk away.

There is a small supermarket on the main road, and a neighbourhood shop for all your bits and pieces 2 minutes away.

There is always lots for the kids to do and if you come during school holidays they can join in the activities at the wonderful Geffrye Museum nearby.

About Us

We are a family of 5. 2 adults and 3 children, the kids are aged 7, 9 and 11. We adults are Irish and moved to London nearly 20 years ago and we love it here.

We are well travelled and enjoy experiencing other cultures.

I work, very locally, as a part time school administrator and my husband works very long hard hours in IT for an international bank in the City of London.
