Description

OUR HOME:
Our home is a two-story home, with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, located on a quiet residential street at the edge of the city of Napa . One bedroom is located on the lower floor, and the others on the upper floor. The kitchen is a typical California kitchen with an electric stove, dishwasher and microwave oven. We have a piano in the living room and one of 2 televisions is located in the separate family room. The clothes washer and dryer are located in a separate room on the lower floor. The backyard is a terraced garden with fruit trees; grape vines and flower beds, as well as a large stone patio.
A car and two bicycles are available for your use. For campers, we have plenty of camping gear, including a canoe! Click on the photos to get an idea of the surrounding area, as well as the home.

Neighborhood

Our family home is located in a nice, peaceful and quiet neighborhood of Napa.

Vineyards and farms are a few minutes walk away, and markets for food and shopping are a 1-5 kilometers away.

THE NAPA VALLEY : The Napa valley is a famous wine-producing region, noted for its exceptional climate, beauty and accessibility to other attractions in California . There are several state parks nearby with hiking trails among the coastal redwood trees. (These trees are the tallest on earth, reaching more than 100m in height.) More than 200 wineries are found in the valley, and most offer tasting and tours. The little town of Calistoga is found at the north end of the valley. Here you can see a geyser, and take baths (including mud baths) in hot mineral springs. The town of Napa has a population of about 80,000.

Fall and spring are spectacular. Winters are cool and sometimes rainy. The summers here are warm and dry. The summer nights are usually mild because of the proximity to the ocean. There are many places to explore here. One hour's drive will take you to San Francisco, one of the most interesting cities in the U.S.; to old Sacramento - restored to its gold-rush days, or to lovely Sonoma Valley , with its mission and historic town plaza. A half-day's drive takes you to Lake Tahoe, and Reno, Nevada , known for its casinos and shows, or down to Carmel on the Pacific Coast. Yosemite or Sequoia or Kings Canyon National Parks, are also beautiful to visit.

About Us

Carl and Suzanne Snyder: We are non-smokers, and have no children. Carl is a retired engineer and Suzanne is a pharmacist. Naturally, travel is one of our hobbies.
We enjoy meeting people, and exploring new locations. We also look forward to experiencing different cultures.
We love the out-of-doors and particularly enjoy hiking and water activities.

Destination

We are open and available to travel any time of the year, and open to any destinations. We would like to visit the Mediterranean countries in the summer of 2008. We are flexible. We are retired and semi-retired.
Because there are only the two of us, and our house is large, we are also open to a Hospitality exchange or non-simultaneous exchange.
