Description

Our house is a semi-detached brick building with spacious rooms. Polished floorboards enhance the living room with patio doors leading into the large garden. The dining room has a fireplace with wood burning stove but the whole house is centrally heated so no need to make a fire if you don't feel like it! The kitchen has an oil fired aga for all your cooking needs (but there is also a gas hob) and it warms the kitchen beautifully on a winter's day! The room is tiled with italian terracotta tiles and has a wooden breakfast bar seating three. A door leads into the back garden. The downstairs also has a cloakroom in the hall. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms one with ensuite, the other right next door to the main bathroom. Two single rooms finish off the accommodation. The house benefits from wireless broadband.
The front drive can fit several cars and there is a turning space.

Neighborhood

Our home is situated in a quiet hamlet in the middle of the Suffolk countryside. It is within walking distance to the nearest village about one mile away and there is a bus stop opposite with regular buses to the nearest town, Ipswich, 12 miles away. By car, Cambridge is appoximately one hour away, Norwich 45 minutes, London two hours but there is a very good train service to everywhere from Ipswich.
The neighbourhood is a mixture of families, older people and couples. Everyone is friendly but we don't live in each others' pockets. There are lots of walks in the area and lovely views. Suffolk is a flat part of UK so don't expect mountain views! We have lived here since 1993 and I have always felt very settled. My children have grown up here and have enjoyed the best of both worlds - peace and quiet, within easy distance of shopping, clubs and pubs when they were old enough!
The nearest village is very old and mentionned in the Domesday book. It has lovely buildings but also a supermarket, post office, bakers, pharmacy, fish and chip shop, pubs, more shops and a large leisure centre. There are lovely woods and a playground. It is very pretty and a lovely place to live. In the surrounding district are many vilages, hamlets and small towns all with its own unique feature.

About Us

My twin daughters are 19. One is off the university in London in September. The other is taking a gap year and she wants to come to Perth with me in April 2009 if we can exchange. They were born in Australia and I would like to show her around as I lived there for eight years. I work as an administrator for the county council but I also teach italian which I love. I learnt italian whilst living in Italy during the 1980s.

Destination

We would prefer Fremantle area or anywhere south or north of the Swan river. Prefer not to go out bush too far because we want to be able to visit friends in and around Perth. Dates are reasonably flexible but we only have four weeks altogether.
We would love a place with a pool or be near the beach but not absolutely essential.
