Neighborhood

We live on a friendly residential road where the neighbours all say hello to each other and the children play nicely on the green which is one house down from us. From the front door of the house you have a lovely view to the sea. The beach is a 5 minute drive away and if you prefer to walk a footpath at the top of the road takes you to the open countryside of the Sussex Downs and the South Downs Way with the beautiful views from Devils Dyke close by.

We have local shops around the corner, with traditional butchers, bakers and fish and chips shops at the bottom of the road. Buses run every 10 to 20 minutes into Hove or Brighton town centres.
Brighton itself is famous for its Victorian architecture, beach walks, Palace Pier with arcades and fair rides, aquarium, Royal Pavilion, the historic Lanes shopping area, entertainments at Brighton Marina and its excellent art, music and cafe culture.

If you come at Christmas there are French and German markets at the Marina, along with a free visit to Father Christmas. The Theatre Royal is showing Cinderella for this year's traditional pantomime season.

London is an easy day trip away with a one day travel card on the train - you're in London Victoria in under an hour. Hastings, historic Arundel castle and cathedral, various zoos, Chessington World of Adventures, Windsor with its castle and Legoland, the Mary Rose and Nelson's Victory at Postsmouth historic boatyard and the wild horses of the New Forest are all within a day-trip's reach. Stonehenge is 2 hours drive for the ultimate historic journey!

About Us

My husband and I have 3 children: a sweet and studious boy of 13, a quiet but confident boy of 11 and a got-everyone-round-her-little-finger girl of 3! I work as a sign language interpreter and teacher in the local college which is wonderful as I have all the school holidays off. I'm originally from Windsor but enjoy the lifestyle that Brighton provides. I like being close to the city but not in it. My husband works for the local council but takes as many holidays as possible. We love to travel. I speak German, English and a litttle holiday French and Persian. My husband speaks English and Persian fluently. The boys know bits of different languages: German, French, Spanish and Japanese and we can all use sign language. Our 3 year old understands most of what we speak but tends to make up her own language at will and is surprised to find we don't always understand her!
You probably gathered from our house description that we all love playing games, watching movies, walking and trampolining. My husband's perfect holiday would be a 5 star apartment in a shopping centre, mine would be camping in an ancient historic city and the kids love anywhere new. We get by with compromising!
