Description

Casa Chinampa is a 7000 sq ft Mexican house built in 2006 and located in La Punta, Manzanillo, Mexico with commanding views of the Pacific Ocean and the Bay of Manzanillo. La Punta is an exclusive, gated community with its own private beach, beach club, lighted tennis courts and tennis club.
Water runs through the house, from the exterior walls, across the patio, down a water wall into the living areas and into a large, crescent shaped infinity pool. The living areas are en plein aire, covered by a massive palapa, or thatched roof. The 4 bedrooms have A/C and overhead fans. Each is en suite with its own bathroom, dressing area and private patio.
The house sleeps 8-10. Children are welcome, as are well-behaved pets. This is a no smoking house. The huge kitchen has travertine marble countertops, tile floors, and is decorated with Mexican art and sculpture. A staff of 3 oversees the house, shops, cooks your meals to order and does laundry and cleaning. The staff is Spanish speaking. The house manager is English speaking.

Neighborhood

La Punta is a peninsula jutting into the Pacific Ocean near the city of Manzanillo, which is half way between Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco. Manzanillo is a resort community that is frequented by Mexicans more than Americans. Manzanillo is the Sail fishing capital of the world. All water sports are available and easily accessible. There is also horseback riding on the beach and through the jungle, shopping in the beach front tiengues, swimming at beautiful beaches, and many restaurants. La Punta is gated with 24 hour security. The homeowners are Mexican, American, Canadian and European. La Punta is next door to Las Hadas Resort, which has 3 restaurants, an excellent golf course, shops, private beach and pools. There are many restaurants within a 10 minute ride from the house, also 2 indoor shopping malls, where you can find anything you need or want, and outdoor craft markets for Mexican art and textiles. Taxis are cheap and plentiful. For walkers and runners, the grounds of La Punta are hilly and beautifully landscaped, with magnificent views everywhere!

About Us

We are a family of 5. My husband, Bill, and I are in the Public Relations and Publicity business with a specialization in the aero space industry. We both have MA degrees in English Literature and Creative Writing. He speaks Spanish, German and Vietnamese. Our children are all grown now and living in their own homes, all in the Chicago area. Our oldest daughter, Amy, is an attorney and her husband, John manages a large sales force in the storage business. They have 3 children, ages 13, 10 and 2. Our daughter Megan, has a MBA in the wine industry from the OIV in Paris. She and her husband Brian work for the Bordeaux wine industry. She speaks French, Italian, German and Spanish. They have one daughter, age 15 months. Our son Tim conducts new business promotions for an software start-up company. He is happily single.
We built our house in Mexico after visiting that part of the country for over 15 years. We picked La Punta because it is beautiful, safe and peaceful. Our architect is a personal friend of ours and we worked together on the project for 2 years before completing the house in 2006. We love Mexico, its people, cuisine, language, art, culture and history. Our house reflects that love and respect.

Destination

We would like to stay in an apartment within the city of Paris in the month of June 2008.
We need an apartment that sleeps 4, is close to transportation, shopping and restaurants, and is in a good neighborhood. We do not need access to a car.
My husband and I want to take our daughter and granddaughter to Paris for a week or more to celebrate her 14th birthday.
