Very accessible to Washington D.C. via car, bus, metrorail, or bike. 660 sq. ft. apartment; fully furnished with full kitchen, king-size bed, TV, cable, DVD, AC, laundry facilities in building, and wireless internet. Two bicycles available to enjoy the sites.

Neighborhood

Located in Historic Old Towne Alexandria, Virginia, on the Potomac River waterfront. Right in the heart of things but surprisingly quiet and peaceful!

Conveniently located to Washington D.C. -- less than 8 miles to the White House, Pentagon, U.S. Capitol, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Smithsonian museums, and the National Mall. Travel by car, bus, metrorail, or bicycle.

To the north is Old Towne Alexandria and Washington D.C., to the south is the scenic George Washington Parkway that follows the Potomac River as it winds toward George Washington's plantation home, Mount Vernon. Either by car, bicycle, or foot, it's a beautiful view any time of the year.

Within easy walking distance are all the restaurants, shopping, and nightlife that Old Towne Alexandria has to offer. Grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and pharmacies are within 3 blocks as well as historic sites commemorating the American Revolution and Civil War.

Whether you're arriving to the D.C. area by car, plane, or Amtrak train, it's very convenient to the apartment. If by car, it's very easy access to the Capital Beltway and Interstate 95. If by plane, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is 5 miles away and is accessible by metrorail and taxi. If by Amtrak train, the station is located in Old Towne Alexandria and is a short taxi or bus ride away.

About Us

I love to travel and meet people from other cultures and countries! My father was in the U.S. military while I was growing up so I spent part of my childhood overseas in Europe and the Philippines. I enjoy researching my family's ancestry and would be very interested in swapping homes with someone in the Yorkshire and London areas of England, especially during the summer months. I also enjoy hiking, camping, outdoor sports, water sports, sailing, scuba diving, beaches, nightlife, history, reading, museums, and just plain relaxing at the beach with a Margarita in my hand, my toes in the sand, and Calypso music playing in the background.

Destination

I am a middle school teacher and have summers off from mid-June to the end of August as well as Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break (mid-March) holidays. I would be interested in swapping homes during any of those times as well as any 3-day weekends such as Labor Day (Sept), Columbus Day (Oct), MLK Day (Jan), President's Day (Feb), and Memorial Day (May). Because this apartment is my main residence, it would basically only be available during the above times but there could be some flexibility.
