Description

A detached modern house on a safe residential estate, at the back of Fistral Beach. Town and supermarket within walking distance. Beautiful National Trust headland walks, coastal footpath in the other direction. Pleasant garden with lawn, patio, outdoor furniture, gas barbecue, pond and herb garden.
Airy and light house, with conservatory onto garden. Fully equipped kitchen with washing mackine, fridge freezer, double oven, etc. Bathroom with bath,shower, toilet upstairs and separate downstairs toilet and washbasin. Large lounge, separate dining room. Breakfast room with doors onto garden.
The house is easy to maintain and all we ask exchangers is to look after our house as you would like us to take care of yours- and to mow the lawn if it gets long!

Neighborhood

Cornwall is a very beautiful county. The coastal footpath has stunning scenery and great variety - the circular walk Southwards from our house encompasses a river creek, estuary, wide open beach, rocky headland, common heath and even a thatched village pub halfway around for refreshments! There are many picturesque fishing harbours nearby, and the cathedral town of Truro is 15 miles away.
Newquay is a bustling seaside holiday destination in the Summer, but retains its identity in the Winter. It is dubbed the 'surfing capital' of England and has a number of beaches, and a fishing harbour. There are 4 supermarkets and a good range of shops/banks and restaurants in the small town centre.
Pentire is an area in the South of Newquay, by Fistral Beach. It is a safe 'upmarket' residential area. It is well situated with the town amenities within walking distance, but also the Pentire headland which juts out into the sea and makes lovely evening walk, with wonerful views.
The airport at Newquay has daily flight connections (via budget airlines, so cheap) to London, Bristol and Manchester Newquay has a rail station, but it is usually necessary to change at Par Station for mainline services.

About Us

Pete and I have both been youth workers and also lecturers before giving up full-time work to 'have adventures'. Our adventures have so far seen us teaching in China and working as campsite couriers in France. We have hosted house exchangers from Canada (where we will go there in Summer 2008) and have completed exchanges with 3 Australians and 1 New Zealns couple- during extended trip to Australasia. It has been a great expereince- we are now hooked on home exchange!
We are passionate about travel and simultaneous exchanges are not necessary as we often travel and also our daughter loves having us stay- to look after our grandson George!

We do not smoke and have no pets. We are keen recyclers and hope that exchangers will make use of excellent Council collected recycling services here.

We have an extensive collection of local walks and guide books - also Lonely Planet Guides to many destinations on our bookshleves, if you want to plan your next trip..... and a wide collection of CDs including much world music.

Destination

We have a two week exchange to Vancouver for last 2 weeks of August 2008- and would consider one before/after that in Eastern Canada. Exchange does not need to be simultaneous- our house can be available at any time, by negotiation.

We are also looking for 1-3 week exchanges within Europe- coastal OR major cities preferred:France, Greece, Spain, Malta, Portugal, Italy, etc - at any time

In Summer 2009 we are seeking an exchange in Queensland or Northern Territory
