Description

The house is setup as 2 bedrooms because we are using the third bedroom as a family room. There is an "eat in" facility in the kitchen and a more formal dining area which is part of the large living room/dining room. A major feature of the house is the 5 metre living room window which looks out onto the river and the palm trees. The afternoon sun, reflected off the river makes the palm fond mural on the living room wall seem to come to life. The master bedroom complex, with its own view of the river and its own balcony, occupies the whole of the second floor. It has a king size bed. The second, downstairs, bedroom has two single beds. The cable TV provides some 70 channels and we regularly watch BBC news. There is a high speed broadband internet access.
Our back yard wooden deck, shaded by Palm trees (even in the summer) and exposed to the prevailing SE breezes, allows us to enjoy the animal life (dolphins, 2 owls, several large blue herons, many pelicans, our own squirrels and even ducks and rabbits) which frequently provides continuous entertainment for many hours.

Neighborhood

We live in town house in a cul-de-sac in Melbourne Beach, Florida which is about 40 km south of the Kennedy Space Centre. We are on the barrier island and our back deck looks out over a 2 km stretch of water – the Indian River. It is a 7 minute walk to the beach and our homeowners association has its own private beach access.
The town of Melbourne is a 10 minute drive and local shopping is 5 minutes away. Melbourne is centrally located and most places in the Florida peninsula can be reached in three or less hours. The Disney attractions in Orlando are 90 minutes away and the Space Centre takes half as long to reach. West Palm Beach is a two hour drive.
We have two bicycles and use them to take advantage of the many miles of bike paths that are provided locally. The A1A bike path runs from the centre of Melbourne Beach to (and past) the Sebastian Inlet park (almost 30 km).
Our town house is in a complex of 14 which are almost surrounded by water - there is a lake in front of our house. We have our own tennis courts (2) and our own fishing pier which extends 80 m into the river and is another great place to watch the dolphins.

About Us

We, Eileen and David, are approaching (but have not yet achieved) retirement age. We have traveled extensively in the US and Europe and have been doing house exchanges for over 10 years. We are non-smokers.
The car that we offer in an exchange is a 2000, Hyundai Tiburon and this is one reason why we are only offering exchanges with couples.
We would be pleased to answer any question you might have about our home and its immediate area.
