Neighborhood
Here you will find the edge of Almeria’s rugged Los Velez Natural Park with its mountains, rocky outcrops, forests and wildlife; nature in all its glory. Many opportunities exist for those interested in hiking, bird watching, observation and photography of wildlife or simply a beautiful drive.
Los Velez Natural Park is 10 minutes drive from our villa. (see www.adalucia.com – Flora & Fauna/Natural Parks)
If you are seeking peace and quiet then this is the place to be.
Our villa is completely private save for the occasional passing of the local goatherd or farmer. We have frequent (seasonal) visits from Eagles, Hawks and Vultures with a resident Owl roosting in nearby derelict buildings. We have a neighbouring house, which is currently unoccupied apart from occasional visits from the Spanish owner.
Five minutes drive to Velez Rubio (a Spanish working town) which has several bars and restaurants serving Spanish and English food. There are also supermarkets, a good selection of shops, a garage and market (Saturday). 10 minutes drive away is Velez Blanco, a traditional Andalucian mountain village also with a selection of bars and restaurants, a few shops and a market (Wednesday.)
Approximately 40 minutes to the coast where there are miles of the best beaches in Spain.
Approximately 1½ hours drive from Almeria, Murcia or Granada Airports.
About Us
Pete, a retired Engineer (63) and Sue, wife, a retired Social Services Administrator. Family in the UK. Sally the dog is kennelled when we are away. Poppy the cat comes home for feeding twice a day otherwise we do not see much of her. We hope visitors wouldn’t mind feeding and offering her a few minutes affection.
We have recently moved to our new villa from a very old cottage in the UK and are progressively changing the furniture to suit the new surroundings.
Interests – Travel, Eating Out, Reading and general socialising.
Our time is flexible so short breaks, long weekends or holidays are no problem however, long stays would need to be planned around the pets.
We offer to respect and look after your home as if it were our own.
We are new to exchanging and would welcome any advice.
Destination
We are looking for an exchange in Ireland, our primary target would be the north but south would also be very welcome. Newly retired, we are also open to all offers but would prefer a rural setting rather than a city centre but anything is possible. This can only be a simultaneous exchange. Our dates are completely flexible.
