Neighborhood

Tasmania:the southern most beautiful island State of Australia. A tourist mecca for Australians anytime of the year, winter or summer. The Derwent River separates Hobart's two residential shorelines and flows out to the South Pacific Ocean & the Tasman Sea separates us from New Zealand. Old Beach is located on the eastern shore of Hobart, the capital. The city centre is to be found on the western shore. Bridges connect the shores:Tasman, Bowen, Bridgewater. Called the Apple Isle due to its apple orchards. It also has numerous berry growing areas south of Hobart. The Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race is held annually on Boxing Day with the finish being New Year in Hobart. Tasmania is steeped in convict history with most especially Port Arthur, one of Australia's primary convict destinations from the colonial era. Hobart is the 2nd driest city in Australia:umbrellas rarely used. Always something flowering in Hobart's pretty gardens.Wonderful sandy, long beaches in and around Hobart and everywhere especially on the eastern coast. Plenty of off shore islands such as Bruny Is and King Is: famous for its dairy produce;mountainous parks to go hiking especially in the west where Cradle Mt and other National Park Reserves are located:bounded by the Indian Ocean. The island itself is most beautiful to drive around displaying a rural pastural landscape dotted with sheep as wool plays an important role in Tasmania's primary economy and so too logging. Hobart itself is an historical city with one of the Australia's oldest and most well established Botancial Gardens. A small pop.500,000 friendly people. Open re dates and time period although with the USA I do have 2 exchange contracts already for 2-3wks each - Cleveland,Pennsylvania & Chicago Would like longer in Chicago if anyone has an exchange home there? Either from the 9th Sept.,2008 or ending the 11th Aug.,2008. Need west coast and/or Hawaii ending 11th August and Las Vegas starting from 9th Sept., 2008.Washington DC also appeals. I have 2 contracts with Europe and still seeking other European countries such as Italy:anywhere and France, preferably near Paris. Seeking dates from the 21st April - end May,2009 or from the 22nd June, 2009. I will consider Hospitality Exchanges : that is with us both acting as hosts in a reciprocal arrangement for no more than 2wks each. This is especially sought with Europe with the difficulties of driving and language. Also will Homesit your home/pet.Open to other suggestions.
