Description

Welcome to our vacation condominium on Loreto Bay in Punta Nopolo, a place of intense beauty and comfortable adventures! Our friendly and small upscale community sits on the Sea of Cortez and estuary edge with expansive sea, mountain, and golf course views. Loreto Bay is part of a national marine sanctuary, one of only 5 in all of Mexico.

Our condo is a second floor (plus private 4th floor patio) and is very nicely appointed and comfortable. Queen in Master, 2 long singles in guest room. There is privacy and tranquility yet easy access to all you need. Have morning coffee on the terrace and watch the magnificant bird life in the mangrove islands and lagoon and on out to the sea. Have your evening beverage on our large private rooftop patio with spectacular views. We are located on the culdesac next door to the Villages of Loreto Bay. The largest sustainable & walking community underway in North America.

Enjoy the Sea of Cortez as your playground. Whale watch, dive, swim, golf, snorkel, kayak, fish. Jacque Cousteau called the Sea of Cortez, the "world's aquarium".

The town of Loreto is an historic fishing village with the first California mission. It is friendly and quaint. No street vendors trying to sell you time shares like Cabo! Loreto is surrounded by 5 islands that are wonderful areas to explore as well. This is a desert paradise with a big blue sea!

Easy access from LAX (Los Angeles, CA) and Houston with direct flights into Loreto (90 minutes from LAX-Alaska & Delta).
The property is 3 miles from the airport and 5 miles to the town of Loreto. More details are available on our website: www.casaloretobay.com

Small well behaved dogs are welcome--we are animal lovers too!

Neighborhood

There are 24 units in Punta Nopolo currently. It is a very friendly place with interesting and engaging people. We are very fortunate to have Jesus who manages the complex and is bilingual. He can help out with just about anything. You will find it very easy to get around in Loreto without knowing Spanish, but of course if you speak Spanish your experience is just enhanced.

We have a lovely community pool. But I find the water too cold in mid winter for my tastes. My Canadian neighbors seem quite content. We are working on a solar heating system.

There is a new building (3rd) going in, so there is some construction, although it is not very disruptive and they will shortly be doing the interior work. It is screened off as well.

You can walk right next door to the Inn at Loreto Bay and we are welcome to use the groomed beach and order an adult beverage from the poolside bar (or just bring your own). There is a nice restaurant there if you desire a break from cooking. There are always taxis to town at the Inn as well. The Villages of Loreto Bay are all walking distance and shortly there will be nice shops and we are anxiously awaiting the coffee shop / gallery that JC is doing. It is QUITE the upscale village neighborhood that we are adjacent too.

If you want to take a quick trip (10 min) to town, there are many many locally owned restaurants we can recommend. Want the best panga skipper to fish or tour the islands? We can have Pancho pick you up right there.

About Us

We are still working professionals but have the blessing of having our condo in Loreto as our second home which we frequent. I also currently work for a developer in Loreto so I spend a lot of time there and have been fishing there for 15 years. Our primary home is Southern CA, USA.

We are interested in exchanging our place with people who are respectful and can appreciate this special place. At the same time we recognize Baja is not for everyone.

We are interested in an occasional exploration of a new area for us and for a 'tree fix'. So pine trees and cabins are a big hit. I am also very fond of the Big Island and want to do more hiking/backpacking there. We see Australia, New Zealand, and Africa in our future travels as well. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that the new hobby of diving opens us up to any dive location in the world. We do not require a simultaneous exchange since this is a second home for us, so we can be quite flexible. Most of our travels would be in July, Aug, and Christmas through mid January. We require comfortable and clean accomodations but we focus on the quality of the area and activites and aren't necessarily looking for luxurious stays.

Destination

Dates Flexible, NON-Simultaneous OK, HAWAII immediate need 2008. All scuba diving regions around the world. Mountain and tree regions of US and Canada. Africa in 2009. Mexico Yucatan. Alaska fishing / hiking. Very open to hear/learn/see your area of beauty as an option.
