Description

My home is a 1,171 sq ft Townhouse, with 3 Bedrooms & 1 Bathroom which can accommodate up to 5 and is ideal for singles, couples, or families with one or two older children. 
 
The open concept main floor has hardwood throughout. A large, modern kitchen with all appliances (stove, fridge/freezer, dishwasher & microwave) has a breakfast bar eating area that is open onto the adjoining dining room. The sunken living room features a gas fireplace and a 43” big screen TV with DVD and Home Theatre, as well as digital cable that allows for movies on demand. Central air conditioning ensures a comfortable climate year round.

My master bedroom is large and bright, with tons of closet and storage space. The second bedroom has a single bed, as well as equipment to double as an exercise room, while the third bedroom has been converted to a library/office, complete with more than 1,500 books for you to peruse, it also has queen size futon that easily folds out to comfortably sleep two.  The full bathroom has a tub enclosure with shower.

All bedrooms have cable television. A desktop computer with broadband internet access is located in the third bedroom/library/office which includes a WiFi enabled router so that wireless access to the internet is available to your laptop anywhere in the house, including on the deck.

The yard consists of a large, west-facing deck with BBQ, seating and recycling centre. Two private parking spaces are also available.

As my home has not been childproofed, it may not be suitable for younger children/toddlers. I request that any smoking only take place outdoors on the deck.

Neighborhood

Calgary is known as the "Heart of the New West". In addition to its rich Western heritage and urban attractions, Calgary is the gateway to the Canadian Rockies which are less than an hour’s drive to the west. Kananaskis Country, Banff, Lake Louise, the Columbia Ice Fields and other natural attractions make for ideal day trips. Also located within an hours drive is Drumheller’s Dinosaur Valley which is world renowned as home of the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology.

In addition to the world famous Calgary Stampede, other international caliber events that bring visitors to this city every year include the Calgary International Folk Festival and the Masters Nations’ Cup (one of the world’s most prestigious annual equestrian competitions), at Spruce Meadows where you can sometimes catch the Canadian Mounties perform the RCMP Musical Ride.
The Silver Springs area has lots of parkland, including pathways that connect directly to Bowness Park (just across the river on 85th Street) which sits on the western edge of the extensive Bow River pathway system and has several shallow lagoons used for paddleboats in summer and ice skating in winter. Shopping and public transit are both within walking distance.

About Us

I am a 34 year old single professional who works in Health Care Management, as well as consulting. While I sometimes travel with one of my single female friends, I like to think of myself as being quite adventurous and do enjoy exploring new places on my own.

English is my first language, but I look forward to trying out my “high school French” and perhaps tackling Spanish in the future.

Besides travel, my other hobbies and interests include sewing/dressmaking, sports - particularly Ringette and golf - and wine.

Destination

My first two exchanges, to Scotland in 2007 and Hong Kong in 2008, were amazing! I am looking forward to another adventure in 2009. In partiuclar, I am interested in visiting South America, the Mediterranean, South Africa or any wine producing region.

I am also interested in short term exchanges throughout the year to almost any city in Canada or the United States. It would be great to swap my ski destination here in the Rockies for somewhere sunny such as Hawaii, Texas or California for a long weekend during the winter months.
