Description

Our home has an open, light and airy feeling. We have a fairly good view of the side of Table Mountain, the view increases in winter when the trees have lost their leaves.

The living area is large and airy, it has an eight seated round table. the sitting area has comfortable chairs and a fire-place. There plenty of books available - ranging from South African history, to good modern novels. The TV, DVD with classical CDs is in this room.
The large main bedroom has queen-sized double bed and a shower room. The second bedroom, with two single beds has an interleading study. A very pleasant maid is available for two days a week. The quarry-tiled kitchen is large with the usual mod cons - dishwasher, etc.

The garden is protected from the summer south-east winds and is cool and shady in, making it possible to enjoy al fresco eating.

We have friendly neighbours who would be able to assist with any problems. As security is an issue in South Africa we can only say we have not had any incidents, break-ins, etc. in the 30 years we have been here. We do have a very, very benign bull terrier who probably plays a part in our security. Having the dog stay while you are here is your choice - we can take him to the breeder. The house has good security.

Neighborhood

It is a fairly old, quiet treed suburb, shops and a park are within walking distance.

The Baxter Theatre complex with very good theatre is close-by as is the up-market Cavendish Square with its wide range of shops and cinemas.

We are close to the main roads leading to the Waterfront (15 min), town centre (15 in), beaches (25 + min) Cape Town International airport (15 min) and other tourist destinastions - winelands (30+ min), Hermanus with its whales (90 min).

All medical facilities are available close by, 5 - 10 minutes.

About Us

Our interests are history, politics, art, the environment, music and walking. The owner of the house is an editorial cartoonist of many years standing, is a practising fine artist and has had many books of his drawings and paintings published. As a result of these interests we enjoy all the different aspects of new places.

We are keen to arrange a swap as we want to visit our son (who is a music composer in Sydney) and family for about 6 weeks. By swapping we'll have the freedom to be more independent.

We also hope to get to Melbourne and Tasmania.

Destination

We'd like to be in Lower North Sydney ideally Chatswood or other close areas: Cammeray, Crows Nest, Artarmon, Naremburn, Roseville Willoughby, Castlecrag.
