Description
We live in a 1920's cottage set in the Wiltshire countryside close to Bradford-on-Avon and Bath. Upstairs there are two large double bedrooms, one single bedroom and a bathroom with bath and shower. Downstairs there is another toilet/cloakroom, study, kitchen/dinning room and separate living room. Outside there is a large sunny front garden. The whole house has recently been renovated in a contemporary style, whilst still keeping the original period character of the house. As well as open fireplaces, wooden floorboards and a wood-burning stove, the house is equipped with all mod-cons including central heating, gas oven, washing machine, microwave, wireless internet connection and printer, TV and DVD player. We would like to do a vehicle swap and have a Volkswagen Transporter (able to seat 5 people) which is perfect for weekends away. We would also be happy to leave bikes and camping equipment available for you.
Neighborhood
Our house is set in the village of North Bradley in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside in South West England. Located on the outskirts of Trowbridge we have the benfit of being close to shops and local amenities including a swimming pool and lesiure centre, as well number of beautiful country pubs.
The surrounding area is great to explore by car, on bikes or on foot. We are close to the historic sites of Stonehenge and Avebury and Glastonbury and nearby towns include Bradford-on-Avon and Frome which are renowed for their heritage and arts. The historic Georgian town of Bath is only 20 minutes away and we are also close to the vibrant town of Bristol. Both of these cities have plenty of attractions including the Roman Bath Spa and Bristol Suspension Bridge as well as bars, cafes, restaurants and clubs. London is just over an hour away and easily accessible by both road and train. We are also well located for visiting Devon and Cornwall which boast spectular coastlines pefect for walking, surfing or just relaxing. Finally, Bristol airport is less that an hour away with quick access to many European destinations.
About Us
We are an unmarried couple who both enjoy activites and sports including running and bike riding, dance, yoga, surfing, swimming and snow boarding. We would be really keen to make a house exchange with access to the beach and mountains so that we can develop these interests further and really enjoy the outdoor environment around your home. Daryl (42) is a builder and has renovated the house himself over the last few years. Alyse (28) works in academic book publishing and also teaches exercise classes. We both have an interest in living ethically and try to recycle and reuse wherever possible. We are currently in the middle of our first house swap to Australia which is ongoing until September 2008. the whole experience so far has been brilliant and we would thoroughly recommended this method of travelling to anyone else. We are actually enjoying it so much that we are now keen to arrange a swap for 2009!
Destination
We're now well into our first 9 month house swap and are enjoying it so much that we are keen to arrange another trip for 2009. We are definitely open to offers but are definitely interested in either Spain/Portugal or Australia/New Zealand, ideally near to the coast and surfing beaches in particular. Alternatively we would also be keen to visit Canada especially if we could be near the ski resorts. Dates are flexible anytime from January 2009 onwards and we are keen on a medium to long-term stay of up to 6 months. However please do still get in touch if you are only looking at a few weeks as our plans are open. Non-simultaneous exchanges may be possible too.
