Description

We live in a large charming cottage with spacious kitchen/dining room looking out onto a medium sized pretty enclosed garden. We have a further 2 reception rooms both with open fires (if needed) and lovely wooden floors. We have four bedrooms (2 ensuite) with an additional large family bathroom. The bedrooms have one twin, one double, one family (ie double plus single, ensuite - with a baby grand!) plus another double ensuite. I am an interior designer and hope a family would find it a comfortable and pleasant place to stay.

Neighborhood

We live in a beautiful English village and are situated in the centre of a conservation area opposite the church and village inn. We are ideally situated and surrounded by idyllic countryside. A 5 minute drive takes you to the famous Hall Cross Hall spa in a Stately Home. The market towns of Burton-upon-Trent, Lichfield (with its spectacular cathedral), Tutbury Castle and Uttoxeter racecourse are less than 30 minutes away. An hour's drive takes you to Birmingham, Stoke on Trent with its potteries, Sherwood Forest, the home of Robin Hood, Chatsworth House and Shrugborough Hall, not to mention Alton Towers arguably the best theme park in the country. The peak district with Dovedale and Tissington trail again is only 30 inutes sway, along with the famous Belfry golf course. A two hour train journey will take you to our capital - London, or the glorious Yorkshire dales.

About Us

I live with my partner Phil 51 and daughter Sophie 18 and we are getting married next year and our trip to Australia is to be our combined honeymoom and my big birthday (don't ask which one!).We are looking to be based within driving distance to Airlie Beach so that we can explore the Great Barrier Reef and go across to the Whitsunday islands. Our holiday of a lifetime.
Phil is an air conditioning contracts manager and Sophie is about to go to University to train as a teacher. I am an interior designer but currently also run a small BB from our home - although of course there will be no one stopping when we exchange.
Life is short and we are looking to live for the day and we would treat anyone's home with as much care and respect we would our own home. This is our first swap and are so looking forward to experiencing Australia. England is beautiful in September - often the best month of the year. Our village is extremely friendly and our friends and neighbours would be on hand for help and advice if needed.

We would like to be based in Queensland - near Mackay - so we can access the Whitsunday islands
