Description

This is a place to park your vehicle (2/5 acres), unload your Mountain Bike, pitch your tent or park your RV and enjoy the desert of Southern California. Very near Joshua Tree National Park and only a three hour drive to Vegas or Los Angelos beaches, Mexico. 2 hours to the Colorado River Parker Dam area. The weather is fantastic, Twentynine Palms is 8 miles, Joshua Tree 12 miles. Great Place to call your own while you use it as a base camp for Joshua Tree National Park. Public Swimming Pool is open in 29 Palms every afternoon and fantastic places to eat or enjoy art. Visit 29 Palms the City of Murals. This may be open to you for weeks at a time. If you have a self contained RV or like camping, this is the place for you. The Cabin is a secure building which was built in 2007 with no inside finish as of yet. The area is great and a couple of neighbors within 1/4 mile keep an eye on things while you are up in the Park, or, Monument, as we call it. C'est tres petite maison, mais tres jolie!
Many young people from france or other countries find it good to have a real address in Southern California so that they can buy a cheap, used car while they come to stay for the summer or for a month or so. This has an address.

Neighborhood

Great for hiking and just plain desert exploring right out of the door. Starry Nights are fantastic and the desert is wonderful in the wintertime!

Good place to have an address so that you, as a french person can buy a car here. It is hard to rent a car if you are under age 23 or so.

About Us

I lived here from 1973 - 1977 and have begun rebuilding the shack, as we call it. My kids and grandkids love coming here and we do, too. My two favorite places after a day of hiking up in "the monument" as we call Joshua Tree National Park, are: Pappy and Harriets in Pioneertown or The Inn in twentynine palms. great people all around! I love the outdoors and natural food. Je parle francais, en peu. Mon grandmere (was) francaise! De le region allsace. j'adore la france, aussi! Et je vene souvant a france .

Destination

dates are flexible, we would like to stay in Paris for a week or so.

The desert shack is available most of the time. For visitors to USA from, say, France. They sometimes find that they must be 23 or 25 to rent a car. A car is necessary in Southern California. We can provide an address and they may be able to get a California or Iowa Driver's license and then they can buy a car, or just use the French Carte Identite and buy a car using the address where they stay here at the shack.
