Lakeview cottage, forest walking trail. Located 90 minutes from Vancouver BC or Seattle WA

North America / United States / Washington / Bellingham

Close To   Vancouver, BC (70 Miles)

Description

My cottage was built in 2005. The back of the house is forested and there is access to a hiking trail (Stimpson Trail). My front yard overlooks Lake Whatcom with a northern view. My teenage children have their bedrooms upstairs and we share our home with our 7 year old female cat that loves adult attention. I have a 2000 Hyundai Sonata available for your use. (4 door sedan, 6 cylander).
Enjoy the views of the lake from the kitchen sink, the living room, and from all the bedrooms. Enjoy the view of the ivy covered ravine from the back and in the winter a stream. There is a small sitting room for watching TV, high speed internet, a gas parlour stove as well as a regular gas furnace, gas hot water, gas cooking stove and oven.

Neighborhood

We are approximately 5 miles from the downtown area of Bellingham. Bellingham is home to Western Washington University, Mt. Baker Theater, the 'old town' of Fairhaven. A 90 minute drive north puts you in Vancouver, BC or 90 minute drive south in Seattle WA. Also within about 90 minutes is the ski hill, Mt. Baker.
My neighbors to the east are friendly and also have two teenagers. They both practice the drums periodically and are very talented. My neighbor to the west is a quiet university student. My neighbors to the north are quiet, well behaved young people that spend much of their leisure time on the mountain snowboarding in the winter and on the lake wakeboarding in the summer. The closest water access is about 3 miles north. Alumni of the University have summer access to a 'Lakewood' a water front facility, with boat rentals, less than two miles south. The weather in the winter is typically cool, rainy, misty, and sometimes it snows. There is a bus stop at the bottom of my street if you prefer not to drive to Bellingham. The closest convenience stores are about 3 miles, either south to Sudden Valley, or west to Electric Avenue. The closest church is about a mile away and is located at 'The Firs'.

About Us

For the upcoming November trip I will be travelling by myself. The children will not be joining me. For the December trip my 17 year old daughter will be joining me.

I work at Western Washington University and manage the Student Information System in the Registrar's Office. I exercise nearly every day, sometimes taking the 'Stimpson Hike' of about 4 miles or going to a local gym. My daughter is a senior at the high school and also attends the local community college and plays the cello. My son plays hockey (goalie) and loves to skate, both ice skating and roller blading. There is a local year round ice rink facililty along with an indoor soccer field.

In my leisure time I like to read, walk, spend time with my friends, listen to music, work on my computer and cook.

Destination

I will be travelling to Maui by myself November 17-23 2007 and again December 20-29, 2007 with my daughter. I am looking for a clean, peaceful, safe accommodations for both trips.
