Maison

Enjoy the peaceful location of this large house situated in Magill, a suburb of Adelaide, 7 km from the centre of the city and about 15km from the beach.

The house is single storey and has 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, lounge, dinning room, kitchen, family room and a garden with a pool. It is very spacious.

Currently we intend those who swap with us to have have access to our Bed and Breakfast (b&b) suite (which contains a queen size bed, dining table and chairs, sofa, television, washing machine, fridge and ensuite (see http://adelaidebnb.info/ for photos)) as well as another two bedrooms, a large 5m by 8m family room, kitchen, dining room, second bathroom and pool. (For large families with four children for example, another bedroom may be made available.)

A computer with broadband will also be available which can access msn, facebook and other internet services.

We also have a seven seater Honda Odysey available for exchange, and we are have a large carport which easily accommodates two cars, and the front gate of the house (as seen in the photo above), can be locked, although we live in a very safe area with excellent neighbours.

Our house is located on a quiet street, less than 500m away from hair and beauty parlours, grocery and take away food shops, and medical facilities, and about 7km from the city centre of Adelaide.

We also have a playground and free BBQ area, and oval within 250m of the house, and excellent bush walking trails are also close by, and there is a good chance to see a koala ot two.

Free tennis courts, and a soccer playing field are about 700m away.

Firle Plaza, located about 1.5 km from the house, contains almost everything you require (such as banks, chemist, Coles, K-Mart, restaurants, medical facilities and take away/home delivery shops).

Within 3 kms, the are also three wineries which provide tastings and tours.

Quartier

Magill is the ideal base from which to explore Adelaide and the famous Wine districts. For the more adventurous, there is plenty of bush walking (Morialta Conservation Park in Rostrevor), and the beaches are not too far.

Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia, with beaches on one side and hills on the other. It has heritage buildings, churches, universities, theatres, cafes, beaches, parks and gardens set beside the River Torrens.

Food and Wine - Adelaide has a diverse mix of restaurant food of all origins and at Central Market you can buy fresh produce from all regions or you can enjoy fantastic cellar door experiences at Australia’s top wine regions (Barossa Valley (1.2 hours), Clare Valley (1.5hrs) and McLaren Vale (30mins)).

Events and Sports - Cycling ProTour – the 2008 Adelaide “The Tour Down Under” was the first UCI ProTour event ever staged outside of Europe. Home also to the world renowned Adelaide Festival of Arts, Womadelaide and the Fringe Festival which is second in the world only to the Edinburgh Festival.

Other Travel - You can travel locally to Mount Gambier for the blue lake/caves, the Coorong for wildlife, the unique Flinders Ranges, Murray River for the house boats, Kangaroo Island for the wildlife and Yorke Peninsula for coastal ruggedness.

Or fly to Melbourne in 50 minutes, Sydney (1hr 50mins), Queensland (2hrs 30mins). We are central to visit tourist icons such as Uluru (Ayers Rock) and the Australian outback, Northern Territory. A train goes to Darwin (called The Ghan - 3 day trip), and the Sydney-Adelaide-Perth train (Indian Pacific), is another 3 day trip from east to west.

Our family comprises of two adults - Neil and Annalynn (mid 40's) and four children aged 15 (Ellen), 13 (Alyse), 11 (Shireen) and 11 (Nathan) (twins) in January 2010 who are all very well behaved.

Neil works in IT with the commonwealth government, and Annalynn was a science/maths high school teacher until the twins arrived. Now she looks after the children fulltime and helps out at school.

We also run a Bed and Breakfast ( http://adelaidebnb.info/ ) which the occupants of the swap will have access too. Here is some feedback on our accommodation http://adelaidebnb.info/magill4.htm which will be included in the swap.

We are interested in swapping our house with people in other parts of Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain (particularly London), Europe (particularly Italy), and America (particularly arround LA).

In the past (arround 1997 to 2001) we have had three successful holiday swaps, all being in Australia in the State of Victoria.

Neil used to live in England and moved to Australia when he was 15.

We also stay in Canberra for 13 years, and then moved to Adelaide in 2000.

Destination

We are going on a trip in July 2010 for a week in London, a week in France, a week in Italy and a final week in California. We are also open to other offers.

We can either do a swap with you in July 2010, at appoximately the same time that we use your property, or we can use your property in July 2010, and you can use our property in South Australia during the Australian summer (December to January).

A non-simultaneous exchange for one or two people is also a possiblity because we run bed and breakfast accommodation (as discribed in http://adelaidebnb.info/ ). Our most up to date availablity is in http://adelaidebnb.info/magill3.htm .
