Neighborhood
Fareham is a charming coastal borough of approximately 60,000 residents, offering a host of vacation and lifestyle experiences.
Nestled between the historic British Royal Naval city of Portsmouth (home to Admiral Lord Nelson's HMS Victory and King Henry VIII's Mary Rose) and the bustling commercial port city of Southampton, Fareham is a thriving suburban community that offers much for local residents and visitors to see and do!
Just a 90 minute commute to central London and all that the capital city has to offer, Fareham is a great central base from which to discover southern England.
Walkers and cyclists can enjoy the spectacular South Downs, an expanse of gently rolling hills stretching the breadth of the south central English coastland. The idyllic New Forest, protected and unchanged since 1079 when William The Conqueror named the area his ‘new hunting forest’, offers the visitor the quinticential English countryside lifestyle experience. A host of nearby stately homes, castles, forts and cathedrals are equally accessible. Queen Victoria's summer retreat "Osborne House" is just across the Solent on the Isle of Wight, which is also where the internationally renowned Cowes sailing regatta occurs each summer. For those wishing to access continental Europe, an overnight car ferry or fast cat will see you make France in time to breakfast on fresh croissant and coffee!
The Solent coastline offers abundant water-based experiences, including sail schools and activity centres. Children will enjoy the nearby world famous Marwell Zooilogical Conservation Park and Monkey World rescue centre, riding rollercoasters at any one of three local Adventure Parks or hunting dinosaur fossils on the World Heritage Jurassic coastline in neighbouring Dorset!
Whether you enjoy sports, entertainments, walking in the countryside, shopping, museums, or historic buildings there are many attractions within the area to suit everyone's taste.
