Description

The Home
Situated on 2 acres (7000m2) in the peaceful countryside outside Bodrum, Villa Tortuga makes an ideal choice for families and sports enthusiasts. The location is perfect for those wishing a central position to the many charms of the Bodrum Peninsula, with the setting framed by farmland and a quiet, natural view out on a small olive grove and hills beyond. You will be spoiled for choice when it comes to activities, starting with the keyhole pool which has in-pool seating, massage jets, an "endless pool" swim jet, and poolside pergola to escape the mid day sun. A few steps from the pool is a Beach Volleyball court (aka Kids' Beach) and a large grass lawn that lends itself to activities such as soccer or a sunset game of croquet. In the backyard you will find the organic vegetable garden as well as the badminton court. The lower front orchard is a maturing collection of fruit trees. The staff’s cottage is located next to the entrance gate and you will enjoy the efforts of our maid and gardener team who will look after the grounds and pool maintenance as well as your laundry & ironing, cleaning, light cooking and car washing.

Accomodation:
Walking though the front door your eyes will be drawn up to the high ceilings and central overhanging balcony of this spacious villa (300m2). Downstairs is an open plan arrangement of kitchen, dining and living areas decorated in an understated modern style. The “American” kitchen is well stocked for the chef owner and offers an intimate breakfast bar. Out front the large patio has a separate screened in dining area, including the BBQ for grilling up a real Turkish feast! Downstairs you will also find an office, and the 4th bedroom with its adjacent full bath. Up the stairs you find three generous sized bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms as well as a separate laundry room. The master has an inviting balcony and a walk-through closet to access the modern, skylight lit bathroom including 2 sinks, bath and shower.

Neighborhood

Located in the village of Ortakent (Turkish: middle town), Villa Tortuga is centrally located on the Bodrum peninsula in the southwest corner of Turkey, making it a perfect base from which to explore the region. The peninsula is made up of many small villages, beaches, yacht harbors and historical sites which means there is no end of places to explore within a short drive.

Ancient Halicarnassus, renamed Bodrum, is a vibrant, cosmopolitan town and has a wide selection of things to see and do. There are many sites of archaeological interest right in town : from the Roman amphitheater to the remains of one of the wonders of the ancient world - the Mausoleum of Mausellos. The seafront area is split into two bays by the Castle of St Peter which was built by the Knights of St John and contains an excellent museum of marine archeology. An hour ferry ride and you can be in the Greek islands, exploring Kos and beyond. On the seafront you will find traditional Turkish Gulets, sailing boats and the yachts of Bodrum Marina, along with a wide variety of bars and restaurants. The shopping in Bodrum Centre is found in the small narrow streets in the old town where designer shops sit alongside traditional Turkish shops.

Day trips outside Bodrum include the must see - Ephesus, the largest archaeological site in the world. Next to Ephesus is also St John's Church and the Virgin Mary's house. The pools of Pamukkale, the royal rock tombs at Dalyan, the temple of Apollo at Didim along with many other off the beaten path archaeological sites fill out the list of other points of interest within a day's drive.

Note: A rental car is highly recommended.
