California Dreamin??? It can be yours if you exchange with us! Our comfortable typical CA ranch home offers 1 bedroom with king bed & 3/4 bath plus more sleeping on fold-out sofabed & day bed for up to 4 more persons in living areas. Another 1 & 1/2 baths. Plenty of room for you to get ready to go out for the day . Kitchen is large. Has micro & el oven, el stove top, side-by-side fridge/freezer. Dishwasher. Many cookbooks in English. Clothes washer & dryer. Ironing items. Dining room. Living room is cheerful. Family room. Antiques & displays of glassware that are beautiful to look at. Computer connection. Lots of books. TV's, Video & DVD. Forced air furnace & air conditioning. Gas BBQ on patio near fountain. Year round roses & sub-tropicals. Neighborhood of established homes...big shade trees & green lawns. Parking off the street. (Sun room on home is my studio as I am a writer & painter. Not much room there for other things!) Rest of house is 1,600 sq ft. No smoking please, as I have severe allergies. We have cats and dog pets, so it would not be suitable for someone with serious allergies to them. We have caretaker who lives in our home using an additional bedroom and shares on bathroom. She is a fine young woman from Poland who is a work/study student here and she is guaranteed to brighten your day if you are fortunate enough to have contact with her, however, she works a great deal so between work and sleep, she is not around but for short times. She hardly uses the house for more than a place to sleep. We have a gardener who comes weekly. It is 7 miles to Santa Ana Airport...about 1 hour to LAX or Long Beach. All have car rentals. We have exchanged vehicles before and choose not to do so again. Otherwise, home exchange is a GREAT way to see the world! You are very welcome here. Come enjoy golf only 2 blocks away & reasonable! All kinds of restaurants--Disney is 5 miles--culture galore--so much to do!

Our neighborhood is pretty quiet. It would have to be, as the local kids play baseball out in the street (!) 2 blocks to a breakfast/lunch cafe & an 18 hole GOLF course that is the most reasonable in lower CA. 3 blocks to a park with play equipment for youngsters & picnic tables, 5 blocks to major department stores, grocers ,pharmacies, shops, movie rentals, beauty salons, etc. Suggest you rent a car, but city bus is 2 blocks walk. For $3.50 you can ride all day, anywhere..even to the fast train connection into LA or San Diego. or to the ocean. (Less for kids & Srs) 3 miles to inside skateboard park for all skill levels & rentals & 36 movie theaters (yes 36) + 2 large malls. Bus to museums, kid museum, live theater, sports events, Disney parks, beach. Live theater, musical productions, Knott's Berry Farm family fun park, shopping at world renowned Fashion Island (where poodles are as likely to wear diamonds as are their owners), international sports, all ez to get to. LA holds adventure in shopping at LA Market, Hollywood, China Town, La Brea Tar Pits (watch them dig out bones even today) Universal Studios, Huntington Library (see Pinkie and Blue Boy) if in winter, drive 6 hours for world class skiing or in summer, High Sierra Mountain biking, & trout fishing (rent a condo there for part of the time you are here). Our last guests took 3 days and went to Grand Canyon Arizona and LasVegas. If you like to gamble it can be a day trip to any number of places by bus. Wine tasting makes a nice overnight outing. California is very large, so to go to San Francisco is a 2 day drive. San Diego is a day trip for their zoo, Lego Land, and Sea World. But Disney is only a 5 minute drive!!! And there is LOTS to do here culturally as well as just relax at the beach which is 15 min by car (see photo) or 30 min by bus.

We are a retired couple who got married only 2 years ago (see photo). Alice is a published writer & painter...also does quilting. Rich owns a small business and retired in February of 2009 from Santa Ana Airport (CA) where he assisted in the private jet division. Rich has lived in France and Germany, and Alice has lived in the Phillipines. We love to travel and enjoy home exchanging. We have purchased a motorhome that allows for non-simultanious exchange and we also have a vacation cottage in the state of Washington near the Canada border. We can therefore accomodate your dates of preferred travel. We like to travel when school is on and flights are less costly...usually May and September when weather is to our liking as well. Rich speaks English, some German and some French, but communication with us should be in English as Alice speaks only English. (Thank you) Our lineage is mostly German and Dutch and that part of the world thrills our hearts but we have a basic curiosity for all the world. We keep our home up well and treat other peoples property with respect. We are the type who would let you know if we broke a glass and would offer to replace it...some people would just toss the pieces and hope you didn't notice. Our home may not be fancy, but it is very comfortable. We hope you can come and enjoy it as we have. (Please non-smokers only as we have serious allergies; also, can't stay in a smokers' home, so be honest to us. Thank you.) Home Exchange has been very successful for us and for other family members. We have taken one daughter and her husband with us to France and had a wonderfulf exchange. Another daughter with family has a home close to us that is larger and has a pool if you are reading this and need to travel at school breaks. They have done numerous exchanges in various parts of the world. For our family, it is the greatest way to travel. If you are new at it, don't be afraid to try it! You make friends for a lifetime!

Destination

Dates are flexible May and September are our favorite travel months. Will consider any offer, but hope to go to Italy, Spain, Portugal or Poland on our next adventure.
