Description

Our family has owned this farm for centuries, and we started renovating it 30 years ago, to turn some parts of the property in a charming B&B. We're members of Gîtes de France, the most important B&B association in France, and we're "3 épis" classified, which means a nice level of comfort and pleasant surroundings. We also developed a Ferme Auberge, where we serve our guests home-grown, home-raised and home-made products. Staying with us you'll discover the true traditional regional cuisine.
We have been exchanging vacations with guests for years, many of them coming every year and becoming friends. This way we have visited lots of places in the world. But there are many places we would like to see, so we decided to give internet a try! We are aware that our proposal might be different from what is usually offered on this site, but we see many advanteges to the formula for you, one being that you won't have to worry about anything: you get up in the morning, have a nice breakfast, leave for a nice day of visiting, and come back right on time for dinner....
Being a family-run business, our exchange doesn't have to be simultaneous. We can't offer exchange from July 10th to August 20th, this period of time being the highest season for us. It's not the nicest time to visit the area anyway: hot and crowded... We recommend June and September when all the touristic places are still open but the weather and the crowd are much nicer to deal with. But any time of the year you'll find many things interesting to do around here, depending on your interests.

Neighborhood

We live at the north tip of Gironde, 40 mns north of Bordeaux. We are right in the middle of the forest, in a very small village. From our place you can easily visit St Emilion (listed by the UNESCO as World Heritage), Pomerol, Bordeaux (the royal city and the museums), the Medoc and Cognac area, Blaye, Arcachon and the Pyla dune... We actually can keep you busy for weeks and you wouldn't see the end of it....

About Us

We like to travel, but not in the artificial way travel agencies usually offer: we like to meet the locals, and live the local way, which is why we like exchanging vacations with other people. Nathalie and her mother Christianne run the B&B and the Auberge, while working the farm and the vineyard, no small amount of work, as you can imagine. Michel, Nathalie's father, has been in a wheelchair for 12 years now after a medical accident. Nathalie and Eric have been married for 13 years and have 2 children, Luc (12) and Elise (9). Eric works in the wine business for a big company, and helps on the B&B and Auberge when time permits, his main contribution being the hunting that provides the game we serve sometimes at dinner!

Destination

The exchange doesn't have to be simultaneous. We tend to take our vacations during French school breaks, but we don't always take the children with us, so we might be interested if you offer an exchange for a week-end in a big city (or a place close to an airport) in Europe. We're open to any suggestion and are pretty flexible.
