Description

House is located approx 3 miles outside Belturbet Town on a private scenic, riverside location. The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 upstairs are en-suite, downstairs bedroom is beside the downstairs bathroom. There is an open plan living/dining/kitchen area, a large open hallway and a utility room. There is a deck at the rear of the house overlooking the river and facing the Ballyconnell Mountains. There is a washing machine, microwave, electric stove, oil fired radiant heat cooker, underfloor heating and refrigerator and peat/wood burning stove. There is a small gas BBQ and some outdoor furniture in the garden shed.

Neighborhood

Located near Belturbet Co.Cavan, centre of lakeland district in Ireland. Excellent fishing area. Boats/Bicycles can be rented nearby. Belturbet is also a very convenient location for short day trips. Our favorites are Mullaghmore beach, Co.Sligo. Marble Arch Caves, Co. Fermanagh. Crom Castle park, Co. Fermanagh. Belturbet is located approx 120km from Dublin or Belfast. There are bus services to Dublin almost hourly, so that's a great way to tour Dublin.

Local amenities include horse riding, fishing, cycling, hunting, hiking, golf. Public swimming pool within 12Km or Lifeguarded lake approx 3km.
Very popular local festival lasting 10 days at end of July. Belturbet is a pretty small town with many good pubs and restaurants and very friendly people.
The walk to town takes approx 20 minutes along a very scenic local road that is popular with local residents.

About Us

I am a Software Engineer, originally from the Belturbet area but now living in the United States. We travel back to Belturbet every year and the kids love staying in the house. The house is built on family land and many of the neighbors are cousins/longtime friends. Our kids are 6 and 8 and this is the 3rd year that we have stayed in the house (it is only 3yrs old).

Destination

Prefer non-simultaneous exchange, though simultaneous would be possible. Dates are flexible. Initially looking for a location in Provence/France, but open to other suggestions.
(Sorry, 2007 exchange is not possible due to unexpected change in plans. We would still be open for 2008 summer exchange)
