Holiday/Second home: Very spacious easy to clean modern interior. House itself sleeps 6. The flat is accessible via the garage sleeps 4. The house lends itself to socialising - open plan kitchen/dining room. Lovely family room with dstv and fireplace (for the winter)and separate sitting room.
There is a dishwasher, stove, microwave and washing machine, a cleaning lady is also on hand, if desired.
Our family consists of four: my husband, two daughters and me Holiday times they bring their friends and we have relatives from England or Australia between Christmas and New Year - but we do not get into each others way,because there is so much to do in Hermanus(sometimes called the Biarritz of South Africa - just much quieter we discovered for ourselves) long white beaches, cycling and walking paths and trails, whale watching, shark diving, wine tasting(9 wine estates), cycling, horse riding etc.
The house is available all year around except from 15 December to 12 January.

Quartiere

The house is situated in a quiet part of Hermanus, known as Voelklip. (translated it means bird rock) The residents are a mixture of older people who stay there permanently and holiday home owners - like us. We enjoy it because it is relatively close to the beach - we like to take long walks at lowtide or walk along the cliff paths. It is away from the hustle and bustle - if we want to feel the holiday buzz we drive to the town centre. There is no public transport, but you may use one of our cars. The house is also situated close to a beautiful mountain. The town contains many small shops, coffee-shops and restaurants, catering for a wide variety of tastes.

Chi siamo

My husband and I will definitely be participating.He is an engineer and I am a high school teacher. We both enjoy walking and he also enjoys cycling. When we go overseas and stay in the same place for a week we normally plan very carefully. One day we would go on an historic site seeing trip, the next something like a walk, then the historic sites again etc. We like to visit as many of the surrounding towns as well. We do not like going on organised tours, but go on our own - so that we can look, stop or stay when we feel like it. Our two daughters intend joining us if an exchange takes place next year (2010) in June/July because then they also have their vacation. The one is a world traveller, she has been teaching in South Korea, is currently staying with our relatives in England and will be going with them to Belgium then to Biarritz. The other one is a pharmacist and has only just started working and is working hard and long hours. We have been to England a number of times (I teach English, so I relish sites like the Globe Theatre, Stratford Upon Avon etc.) We have also in the past made use of timeshare in Scotland, Spain, Northern Italy and France. In this way you get to stay a week and we get to know a certain area of each country relatively well - shopping at the local market for fresh produce - like the locals - instead of buying at the tourist shops! Before we travel we read extensively, so that we know what we should see, do and even eat or not eat!

Destinazione

Cities in the southern part of France like Cannes, Lyon, Nice, Lille, Marseilles, , Montpellier, Perpignan or smaller towns in the vicinity - or any of the places through which the Tour de France cylists rode - further south closer to Spain. I can't remember all the names!
