Descrizione

Renovated farm house from the end of the 19th century made out of the typical materials of this area: white tufa stone (all the Loire castles are made of), slates & terracotta.
A charming and warm 'character house' with all the modern amenities.
House&area ideal for history/architecture/nature/wine lovers, gourmets and children !
Relaxing&sunny living room, bright eat-in kitchen (with nice views to the belltower of Saint Mathurin-sur-Loire) leading out to the terrace and its wine-graped' pergola. 4 bedrooms. Closed L-shaped courtyard with charming side buildings from the beginning of the 19th century. Big lush garden with romantic gazebo and various play areas for children, old trees, high slate walls or hedges surrounding the property, nice views.
Heated swimmingpool in the making (summer 2011).

Quartiere

We are between Angers (pretty&culturally rich town, 3 stars in the Michelin guide) and Saumur&Tours and well placed for exploring the Loire Châteaux.

The house is 300 m off the banks of the Loire, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

From our house you can stroll along the Loire to our village 'Saint Mathurin-sur-Loire', stop at the local café and have your croissant&'café au lait' overlooking the Loire.
Directly in Saint Mathurin-sur-Loire: commented boat trips to discover the Loire's protected wildlife, the 'Loire Museum', cycling (the cycle circuit 'Loire à vélo' passes by our house), wind- and kitesurfing, horseriding.
Close by: Brissac Castle (the highest castle in France), Montgeoffroy Castle (Pierre Bergé's favourite), hot air balloon rides (starting from an island in the middle of the Loire), canoe&kajak.

Quiet beautiful area dominated by the Loire, special light (attracting painters).

Excellent restaurants & wine: discover some of the reputated restaurants and vineyards (Sancerre, Vouvray, Bourgeuil, Saumur and Chinon), do winetasting - and prepare some space in your luggage to take wine back home...

Paris for a day trip: 1,5h on the speed train.

And it is in the Loire Valley where the most classical French is spoken (ie no dialect, just in case you want to brush up your French !!).

Chi siamo

We are Franck&Ute, a French/German couple in our early 40s with our two 9&7 aged children (well behaved and used to travelling).
Very much interested in UK, Ireland, Italy (besides Paris two lowcost airports nearby in Tours and Nantes: Ryanair, EasyJet); all European capitals, US Eastcoast.
