Descrizione

The apartment is a 1-bedroom in a 1940's building in the Mid-City area of New Orleans. It is on the second floor and has a front porch, 2-room living room, a small kitchen with eating area (with table for two), a small bathroom with a full tub and shower, a bedroom and a utility room with a washing machine and dryer.

It is an older building which can be drafty/hot at times with hardwood floors. There are air-conditioning units and ceiling fans in the living room and in the bedroom that make it cool in the summer/hot times as well as many space heaters that make the house pretty warm when needed.

Other features include: wireless internet connection (but no computer as I bring it with me for work), hp printer, telephone, radio/cd player w ipod hook ups, flat screen tv, video and dvd player, kitchen aid mixer, cusinart food processor, juicer and sewing machine.

Please note: I have a dog (who won't be a part of the exchange).

Quartiere

I live in a very safe, quiet, family neighborhood. We are in walking distance of City Park (the central park of New Orleans with 600 year old oak trees and the New Orleans Museum of Art).

The beginning of the streetcar line to the French Quarter is a 5 minute walk and a bus stop for most of the city buses is a 2 minute walk away. Many restaurants, cafes, and markets are in a medium walk or short bike ride away. I have 2 bikes available for use.

The Fairgrounds (where they have the New Orleans Jazz Fest) is about a 15-20 minute walk from my house.

Chi siamo

I am a 39 year old female with a great dog named Stella. I studied philosophy and computers in graduate school and now have my own company creating websites for an array of businesses. My work allows me to work from anywhere as long as I have my computer and an internet connection! I am also very creative and enjoy sewing, knitting, photography, and print making.

When I was 22, I lived in Prague/Europe for a year and have lived in many different places in the USA - New Orleans, Wisconsin, Southern California, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Baltimore, And Washington DC. I love to travel and speak English, German and some Czech and am learning French.

Destinazione

I am open to any location for long stays [7-30 days].

For short stays [2-4 days], I would like somewhere in the U.S. or Canada.

I am hoping to find a single person or couple that wants to explore New Orleans.

I would be able to do a non-simultaneous exchange, too.
