Contemporary 3 bedroom home 20 miles from London in quiet location

Europe / United Kingdom / England / Walton on Thames

Close To   Kingston (5 Miles)

Description

Our home is modern and not traditionally an English type of house. It's situated on a very quiet road on the outskirts of Walton on Thames, Surrey which is a safe residential neighbourhood. We recently extended and renovated so it still feels clean and new. The rooms are spacious and there is a large open plan living/kitchen area with tiled floors and underfloor heating. We always think it feels more like a holiday house. There is lots of natural light coming from large sliding windows looking out onto our 1/3 of an acre garden with its two beautiful 150 yr old oak trees. We have a large terrace with BBQ and dining furniture. The perimeter of the garden has an abundance of trees and bushes so it feels private. There are three double bedrooms, one of which has a lovely ensuite bathroom with wet room shower. The second bathroom has a bath and shower. We have most mod cons. Big american fridge freezer, Sky television, wifi internet etc. There's a separate utility room. Whilst we have noted that children are permitted it's probably not hugely suitable to small children with sticky fingers as some of the furnishings quite honestly aren't very child friendly. It's fine to smoke at the property as long as it's not inside the house. We have two cars and can arrange to avail you of one of them - A BMW or Audi estate depending on your numbers.

Neighborhood

Our road is leafy and quiet and yet only a few minutes from the centre of Walton on Thames where there is an abundance of shops and restaurants and the famous River Thames. There's a great supermarket just a 2 minute drive away. The nearest mainline railway station is only a 10 minute walk with regular trains into central London taking less than a half hour. The famous Hampton Court Royal Palace and park with roaming deer is a 10 minute drive and a lovely place to walk year round. In July Hampton Court has a famous Flower Festival and a Music festival. There's one of England's chief Horse Racing courses a couple of miles away. We are central to many towns and villages situated on the river thames and quite a few of these have restaurants and pubs right on the waterfront. The south coast is about an hour's drive.

About Us

We are a couple in our early 50's. Both working in TV production. Our hobbies are travelling and rugby and with Twickenham Stadium only 20 minutes away we often try and get tickets for the internationals. We have no children and I guess our house has subsequently been finished in quite an adult fashion. If you are a family with young children you need to bear this in mind, know you won't find any toys and that there are a lot of white walls and nice furniture to watch! We have two lovely cats, Tigger and Poppy who can either stay here with you or if you prefer we can put them in the cattery. They are very independent so not a burden. As long as their bowl has something in it they're happy.

We also have a three bedroom second home with pool in the South of France which can also be available as an exchange, the details of which you can see at
www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/etoile. This house on the other hand is very child friendly.

Destination

We are particularly interested in doing an exchange to New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup in November 2011. The dates for this are yet to be confirmed.
