Description

Comfortable and nice two floors flat - we live in a house which is divided in two parts: the front part, where lives a very quiet neighbour, and the other and larger part, where we live. We have a garden at the back, although in winter, the only thing that grows is snow! There is a lot of wood in the house, which gives it charm and warmth. The bedrooms are on the second floor (plus on bathroom). On the main floor, you will find the kitchen, one little bathroom and the main room - including a couch which can be used as a comfortable double size bed.

Neighborhood

Our house is located in a quiet area of Hull (now called Gatineau), which is a French speaking city just next to Ottawa (Canada's capital). Easy access to buses (we also have a car you could use). We are very close to the Gatineau Park (cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, etc.). Easy access also to supermarkets. Vegetarian restaurant nearby (owned by my husband!)

In Ottawa:
- Skate over the Rideau Canal, the world’s largest skating rink which is also designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site (http://www.canadascapital.gc.ca/bins/ncc_web_content_page.asp?cid=16297-16299-10080&lang=1)
- Visit the Parliament Hill and some of the numerous museums
- Visit the Cold War bunker (or Diefenbunker) - Below a farmer's field in the Ottawa Valley, Canada's "secret" bunker quietly began operation in 1961. Throughout its 33 year lifetime the Diefenbunker was the Central Emergency Government Headquarters for Canada. Federal government budget cuts led to its being decommissioned in 1994

In Hull, enjoy Winter in the Gatineau Park!
The Gatineau Park has 185 km of trails groomed for cross-country skiing, including some with skating lanes. The 363 square km park north of Ottawa is operated by the National Capital Commission and is probably the largest groomed ski trail network in Canada. The park hosts a Ski-Fest in January featuring a free introduction to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing (including equipment)

ALPINE SKIERS: There is a ski station nearby (15 minutes drive). Visit also Mont-Tremblant (2 hours drive) where you will find three fantastic ski areas (Mont Blanc, Gray Rocks and Tremblant)
Visit also:
- Wakefield, a charming and typical village (30 minutes drive)
- Montreal – Quebec’s Metropole (2 hours drive)
- Quebec City – the oldest French Speaking city of North America (5 hours drive)
- Toronto (5 hours drive)

About Us

We are a family of three:

Viggo is three months old and is the nicest baby in town! When he'll grow older, he would like to be a Viking and drive a drakkar (his dad has some norwegian origins...)

Dag is forty years old. He owns two vegetarian restaurants and enjoys his work very much. He likes sports, gardening and watching movies. Overall, he is a fantastic dad.

Catherine is thirty-two years old and usually works as a translator for the federal government, but she is now on maternity leave. She enjoys sports and reading, and she is in love with Dag and Viggo.

Viggo speaks the ari-are language, Dag speaks French and Catherine speaks French, English and some Spanish.

Destination

We would like to go to any destination in South America, Central America or Mexico. We are also interested in New Zealand (we have some family in New Zealand but would like to have our own place). If you live anywhere else, make us and offer! We will definitely examine it carefully. We are looking to travel anytime from January to July, maybe August.
